NASCAR 09 Description

NASCAR racing. A series of left turns for some, a breathtaking motor sport packed with action and drama for others. It's also an enduring franchise for EA Sports, with the publisher's driving teams not getting a rest for the 2009 season. If you find the prospect of jumping head first into one of the most testosterone fuelled motor sports going (and, let's face it, they pretty much drive really fast tanks out on the tracks) fills you with trepidation, fear not! Four time Sprint Cup Series Champion, Jeff Gordon, is on hand to guide you through the game. You might need him, too. This year's entry into the series features an all new career mode that enables you to sign lucrative contracts, build your reputation and earn performance points in four racing series - the Sprint Cup Series, the Nationwide Series, the Craftsman truck Series and the Whelan Modified Tour. Also new this year is the on-line paint booth tool. Players can download a template from the EA Sports website and then it's up to them to make their car the most impressive (or prettiest) on the track.

Well, I hired this because having played one of the sequals (NASCAR Total team control) I thought it might be fun for a change. How wrong I was! The difficulty setting is either stupidly easy, or mind numbingly difficult. The "rules" feature means that should a computer player nudge you, you instantly get a black flag even though it was no fault of your own. You then have no choice but to effectively loose that race, due to the inability to restart. All in all, I was thoroughly disappointed by this game. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!! I had to give 1 star as it was the lowest. Zero if possible.
