Secret Files: Tunguska Description

Secret Files: Tunguska's story starts with a puzzle. When scientist Vladimir Kalenkow vanishes into thin air, his daughter Nina's world is turned upside down. She decides to investigate her father's strange disappearance. On her quest, Nina meets Max Gruber, one of her father's colleagues, who instantly offers his services to help. Nina and Max follow a lead to a mysterious disaster zone in the Tunguska region of Siberia which Vladimir Kalenkow had been studying. In 1908, Tunguska was devastated by massive powers, but until now, nobody knows exactly what. Does the disappearance of Nina's father have something to do with his previous expeditions to Siberia? The search for answers leads them to Berlin, then on to the freezing Antarctic. However, it soon becomes apparent that there are other people interested in Vladimir's secrets and that there is much more going on than the simple disappearance of an scientist.

Traditional point and click gaming comes to the Wii. Pick up items, combine/use items to get new item. Dry, rinse, repeat. If that sounds inviting or sends monkey island-esque shivers down your spine then you may be interested. Unfortunately there is no humour, suspense or atmosphere and the characters are all weak despite the grey matter straining adventuring being rather good. It's a shame really because a lot of the cut scenes could have easily used the in-game engine and generated a sense of urgency which often is compelling on it's own. I'm a fan of this genre and if working out slightly cryptic clues and fixing a car with only a carton of Um Bongo and a packet of monster munch is your idea of fun then rent this.
