Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations Description

Capcom's 2008 instalment in the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney series is a classic case of more of the same, and that's no bad thing. Since its debut on the Game Boy Advance in 2001, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney has successfully managed to build a solid fanbase, and then continue to bolster that with each sequel. After a delay for European fans, the latest episode finally arrives in October 2008. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is a courtroom adventure game involving elements of investigation, interrogation, and intense courtroom battles to attain justice. Phoenix Wright is a defence attorney, though he spends a lot of his time pursuing 'extra curricular' activities such as examining the crime scenes and evidence. Phoenix arguably faces his toughest opponent yet in the slick, styled and sequacious prosecutor Godot. After gathering as much evidence as possible, you must then take this to the courtroom. Interpreting a witness statement, searching for inconsistencies and using this to obtain the truth proves to be an exciting ordeal. The Psyche-Lock feature - enabled when you provide evidence and questioning during the investigation phase - makes a welcome return. A Psyche-Lock is essentially a key area of the investigation where certain evidence can begin to prove a witness's statement to be false. These locks are displayed over the attestant's chest. Most people have several locks, and breaking all of these will allow more deeply inquisitive questions to be asked. Failure to break these locks will result in a loss of health, unless you chose to bail out from the whole procedure, leaving you back where you started. The constantly twisting storyline combined with the 'trialled and tested' gameplay elements of Phoenix Wright delivers the sustenance fans and newcomers desire.
