Strawberry Shortcake was a female doll made by American Greetings. She was made to smell like strawberries. There have been various Strawberry Shortcake products, including clothes, sticker albums and an Atari 2600 videogame entitled Strawberry Shortcake: Musical Match-ups which was released in the late 70s. It has taken nearly 30 years for another Strawberry Shortcake game to see the light of day, and now two have been released at once by The Game Factory: Strawberry Shortcake: Adventures in the Land of Dreams for the PS2 and Strawberry Shortcake: Strawberryland Games for the DS. In Strawberry Shortcake: Strawberryland Games for the DS, players must compete in three different Strawberryland events: Black Liquorice Leap from one end of Punchbowl Pond to the River, Berry Boarding down the whip cream slopes of the Sundae Mountains, and Balloon Rise through candy cloud skies of Strawberryland. Each of these three events has 12 action packed levels for players to enjoy. Compete as either Strawberry Shortcake or Blueberry Muffin along with their favourite pets. Gamers can have fun in between events with three exciting mini-games: Carnival Games, The Baker's Corner and The Balloon Ride. Each mini-game has several levels of difficulty, which makes the game challenging for children of different ages. The game makes full advantage of the DS features, incorporating the touchscreen and stylus into the gameplay. It is also possible to play a two player version of Berry Boarding using the Wi-Fi multiplayer.
