Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure Description

The long-running and immensely popular Japanese anime series Dragon Ball Z is certainly no stranger to the world of video games. Search for 'Dragon Ball' in the SPOnG database and you'll find no less than 3 pages of entries, dating back as far as the rather groovy Dragon Ball Z: Super Butouden on the SNES in 1993. Though Butouden was an arcade style beat-'em-up, the franchise also staked a claim in the RPG genre with the Super Goku Den series. Since then here have been a steady flow of RPGs, beat 'em ups, strategy and card collection games under the Dragon Ball moniker. But the latest game featuring this IP has still managed to do something a little different. Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure revives that most venerable of genres, the side scrolling beat 'em up. For fans, the orange-outfitted, big-haired Goku needs no introduction. For those who don't know, a burning desire to be the best warriors in the world leads him and his friends on an adventure to collect the mysterious Dragon Balls. Punch, kick and jump your way through this side-scrolling platform adventure reliving many of the moments from the series: the 21st and 22nd World Tournaments, the Red Ribbon army invasion, battling it out with Piccolo, training Roshi and Korin, all the while searching for those elusive seven balls. And that's just for starters, as well as the main Gocha Battle mode, this game also features a further two game modes: Tanman Battle, a one-on-one arena based fighting game in which you can challenge your friends; and Sky Battle, which, delightfully, takes the form of an airborne shoot 'em up. Featuring the legendary Kamehameha blast attack, DBAA also contains tons of your favourite unlockable characters along with a load of secret bonuses. Just the ticket for GBA owners who fancy some satisfying, ass-kicking action, and if you're a Dragon Ball fan too, so much the better!
