2 Games in 1: Hot Wheels Velocity X + Hot Wheels World Race Description

Hot Wheels Velocity X Over-the-top toy car racing action now comes to handheld courtesy of the Game Boy Advance version of Hot Wheels Velocity X. Like its PC and home console counterparts, the game's concept is the fusion of Hot Wheels toy cars with a modern video game environment, this version appearing courtesy of 2D isometric visuals. The game is made up of a series of driving-based missions, throughout which you are required to perform a host of wild and crazy stunts, such as speeding through hoops and flying through the air. The story that holds these missions together tells of a rogue gang of racing villains and their attack on Monument City. It's your job to defend the city from the onslaught by racing the baddies, running them off the road, and making use of a wide range of futuristic weapons. This is a fairly comprehensive racing game in all. Over 45 authentic Hot Wheels vehicles feature throughout, each rendered from a 3D model, and each able to take advantage of more than 15 offensive and defensive power-ups. The destructible gameworld is built up of six huge levels, which together offer a total of 30 treacherous missions. Hot Wheels World Race Did you know, dear reader, that Hot Wheels is celebrating its 35-year anniversary this year, 2003? Those of us old enough to remember the lurid plastic track and the over-the-top designs of some of their die-cast cars will not be surprised. However, a generation of gamers will recognise Hot Wheels only through video games, and in celebratory mood, THQ get to publish World Race for the Game Boy Advance, and you know what? It's pretty good. Not as good as snapping together pieces of track for your parents to trip over, but good nonetheless. What you get for your money is a cartridge full of wild racing cars, based on some of the latest and grandest designs to come out of the Hot Wheels garage for the anniversary celebration. Racing is taken to a new level, as players are thrust into the unique Hot Wheels world, where life revolves around ultra-intense stunt racing. Some tracks incorporate split or multi-level courses, loops, ice mountains, volcanoes, hidden shortcuts, obstacles and more - whatever level you race at, and whether you're playing catch up, or showing off with a gravity-defying jump, the challenge is huge, and there'll be more than a few surprises in store. You can link up with a friend, go head-to-head, and try to run each other off the track - great fun guaranteed.
