Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors Description

The Dragonball Z saga, an animated mega-franchise from Japan, has been given a big welcome on western shores. Building on the success of other Japanese ventures such as Pokemon, the DBZ legacy is known not just to children's TV, but to videogames too. And Atari, the publisher responsible for DBZ hysteria in the world of games, is continuing its onslaught with Supersonic Warriors on GBA. Largely a traditional beat-em-up in similar vein to Capcom legend Street Fighter, Supersonic Warriors pits players in a virtual world as any of 15 playable characters from the animated series. Once solo players have settled on a fighter, they must not only partake in classic ground-based combat against one other, they must also take to the skies and make use of aerial fighting skills if they are to take their enemies down. And that's what makes the game faithful to the TV series. But as a hardcore beat-em-up, Supersonic Warriors features a two-player link-up option, character stories and alternate endings, and a skill shop complete with fighting upgrades. In fact, the game itself is a whopping 128 megabit, affording players all of the above, as well as voice acting, sound effects and a graphically intensive adventure. With DBZ firmly established as one of the greatest things since the turn of the millennium, Supersonic Warriors will no doubt go down a treat. Expect a lot more from Atari and Bandai in the coming years.
