Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown Description

Back in its heyday, Cinemaware was an extremely well respected games developer and pioneer of what was known as the 'interactive movie'. Combining elements of RPG and strategy with top-notch (for the time) cinematics, the interactive movie was a massive hit back in the Amiga days, and the company is still remembered to this day for a number of classic titles. One of these games was called Defender of the Crown (see the connection?). A tumultuous 10 years later and Cinemaware is back in the gaming limelight, bringing its unique style to the significantly higher-specced contemporary games market. The result is Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown - a game that fuses action, role-playing and strategy genres, whilst blending cinematic presentations with unique medieval action-sequences. The game's story, told through the eyes of Robin Hood, tells of malevolent aristocrat Prince John, who has usurped the throne and now sits as the illegitimate King of England. Acting on behalf of the people, Robin Hood must reunite England, end the dictatorial rule of Prince John and restore the rightful king to the throne. The game itself sees you test your skills at sword fighting, castle sieges, jousting, daring archery ambushes and army battles in order to restore England to its glory and remove the tyranny that plagues the land. Tying each of these diverse elements together is a twisting plot, featuring open-ended gameplay that sees you choose your own path through the story and control the pace of the entire experience. As such, the game offers over eight different endings, determined by game conditions and player performance. Staying true to Cinemaware's synonymous style, Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown is well presented throughout, featuring impressive cut-scenes, high-quality voice acting, and a fully orchestrated soundtrack. At the game's core is the developer's classic Defender of the Crown, but gone is the idea of the interactive movie, in favour of a quality strategy/action adventure that should meet with the standards of the present day gamer.
