Conan Description

Originally released for PlayStation 2 and Xbox in April 2004, Cauldron's barbarian fest hack-and-slash has now made its way over to GameCube. Inspired by the original stories of R.E. Howard, and obviously influenced by the early work of a certain Mr. Schwarzenegger, the game sees you take on the role of the legendary barbarian Conan and get down to some heavy sword-swinging action amidst a revenge-themed adventure. The story begins as the beloved beefcake returns to his hometown of Grannach following his most recent bout of baddie-slaying, only to discover nothing but a mass of carnage and smouldering cinders. Departing the unpleasant scene is a band of armoured riders, emblazoned with the emblem of the evil Vulture Cult, at which point his destiny is realised and he must embark on an almighty quest for a slice of good old eye-for-an-eye-style justice. And so begins your perilous quest, as you roam the lands of Hyboria, laying waste to a wide variety of grisly foes. There are five expansive regions to explore in total, ranging from the Black Mountains of Cimmeria to the jungles of Dafar. Each area also offers a range of temples, caves and catacombs to discover, in which you must scale walls, leap obstacles, and solve a variety of puzzles. The main task at hand is the collection of the lost parts of the legendary Atlantean Sword. There are 16 different weapons to uncover throughout your travels, including not only swords, but axes and maces as well, but it is this super sabre that holds the key to defeating the Vulture Cult. Taking a leaf out of the book of the classic old-school slash-em-up Barbarian, Conan also has some multiplayer action on offer, giving you the chance to fight it out one-on-one across an assortment of different arenas. Obviously there's no online option as with the Xbox version, but you still can't beat the chance to try and lob your best mate's head off.
