Detonator Description

Games that involve violence, gore or destruction are usually well received by the majority of gamers looking for a bit of escapism, thanks to a massive userbase of adult gamers looking for something a little different to the likes of Kirby's Air Ride or Ham Ham Heartbreak. Rare's Blast Corps was a demolition game of sorts, and though it received mixed reviews, it was held in high regard by its players for being a great deal of fun as well as a good brainteaser. Well now there's a similar game from Midas, aptly named Detonator. Detonator is a truly unique blend of an engaging puzzle game with the satisfying reward of the obliteration of empty buildings and skyscrapers. The challenge is simple - to place explosives in the key locations within a building to weaken it enough to bring it toppling down. Sounds simple. The reality is you have a limited number of dynamite sticks and a whole multitude of different size and shaped buildings. Using your puzzle-solving skills, you must determine the most effective locations to place dynamite before detonating to see just how well you've performed. Detonator comprises of some 100 levels, a variety of explosives, real-time damage and a couple of two-player modes, making it a comprehensive experience if nothing else. It's great fun and a refreshing change. As far as PS2 is concerned, this game is unique, and that's a rare thing in an age where most genres have become exhausted and even a little bland.
