TG Rally Description

Despite Nintendo asserting that the Game Boy Advance is a 2D-only console, the world's development community, for obvious reasons, disagrees. And again, Nintendo is proved wrong as another belting little 3D title is offered, this time Top Gear Rally, the latest in the oft-mocked series that disgraced itself on the Nintendo 64, when everyone else in the world had woken up to the unbridled joy that is Colin McRae Rally. And you might think that this trend was set to continue. It makes the classic blunder of not bothering, or being able to afford to use licensed cars, instead opting for the 'Frankenmotor' route that has seen so many fail, and so few - perhaps only Burnout - succeed. The packaging is another feature of this game seemingly designed to deter any potential purchasers. Best ignore the wrapper, say we. It's a standard affair in terms of content, with ten tracks, three different cups, and 11 cars. It has an arcade race, a practice mode, championship mode and the obligatory time attack. The game is an off-road circuit track racer, not, as you might expect from the title, a true rallying game, and as such, caution is recommended. If you're expecting to hurtle round unseen bends with a Welshman whispering in your ear, you've picked up the wrong game. The handling and physics of this game show a well-meaning attempt to apply the drift into oversteer correction that rocketed rallying games into the mainstream back in 1995 when Sega realised, finally, what was missing from racing games with the release of Sega Rally 1995 Championship. Overall, if you're looking for a true portable racing experience, and they're out of Colin McRae Rally 2.0, TG Rally is a good substitute.
