Steel Battalion: Line of Contact Description

The original Steel Battalion was pretty difficult to miss, purely because of the game's ridiculously sized custom controller, which sported an incredible 40 controls and pretty much took over the average living room. Well, for anyone who missed it, the sequel is now here to remind us exactly how mech games should be played: with a control interface to embarrass the Millennium Falcon, of course! Line of contact once again gives you the opportunity to partake in intense, futuristic, mech-based military warfare, but this time takes the action online. In fact, the game is Xbox Live exclusive, so if you don't have your big black box hooked up to the 'Net (and similarly, if you don't own or plan to buy the aforementioned controller) then the game's not for you. If you do, however, then you get to take part in some explosive five-on-five online combat with a host of other mech-heads from around the world, collaborating with team members to accomplish objectives, expanding your troops' territory, and declaring victory over adversaries. Not bad at all! There are more than 10 new Vertical Tanks for you to get to grips with, as well as the option to design and create your own emblems in order to customise them and thus give yourself a bit of individuality. As well as this, there are also a number of rare machines hidden throughout the game that it's pretty safe to say can be uncovered with a bit of searching. Line of Contact, like the original Steel Battalion, has got to be one of the most fun mech-combat games around and, if you could apply the word 'authentic' to the simulation of something that doesn't physically exist, then it would be very much that too, thanks to that oh so elaborate controller. Only problem is, that that oh so elaborate controller doesn't come cheap.
