Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Description

A conversion of a six-year old PlayStation game doesn't exactly sound like something to shout about, but some old classics are just begging for a GBA remake. Considered by many as one of the best and most addictive puzzlers around, Super Puzzle Fighter 2 is one of them. Featuring 'super stylised' characters from Capcom's Street Fighter and Darkstalkers series, the game sees these miniature game icons battle it out as players attempt to devastate their opponents in a Columns-style puzzle game. The premise is simple yet effective: players strategically line up gems that fall from the top of the screen, matching colours to clear up the playing area and linking power gems together for powerful chain combos. As in the original game, there are eight well-known characters to choose between, including the likes of Ken and Ryu, Sakura and Chun Li. Each character offers slightly different drop patterns, so there are actually certain benefits to certain characters, thus making the selection an important factor in the ensuing action. As this is a game that's best enjoyed in multiplayer mode, it features full support for the GBA link cable and, although requiring two cartridges, is great fun one-on-one. There's also an option that allows two players to play whilst sharing the one GBA (player 1 uses the D-pad and L trigger, player 2 the A and B buttons and the R trigger) which is a great feature for those of you who can't afford the expense of two machines and carts. Super Puzzle Fighter 2 was a great puzzle game when it first emerged six years ago. It still is now, porting well to the Game Boy Advance and making an ideal addition to your collection.
