Shrek: Extra Large Description

Enhanced and redesigned for the GameCube demographic, the hit character Shrek is back, and he's exclusive to the purple box in Extra Large. On the face of it, Extra Large is your run-of-the-mill third-person adventure platformer featuring smelly donkeys and ogres in disguise. Fundamentally, this is the case, but there's so much more to a 3D adventure than crossing narrow platforms and jumping on evil creatures' heads. The developers need to inject something unique into that specific game to give it it's own personality, and that's exactly what DICE has done. Shrek, while still a game, tells a funny story through humorous gameplay and 15 brilliantly scripted cut-scenes that span some wonderfully rendered Disney-inspired environments. The Shrek locales are vibrant and colourful, and do a good job of retaining the fantasy quality that was present in the film. Shrek himself is remarkable easy to control, and that's partly down to Nintendo's ergonomic GameCube controller. And is this is just as well, considering you have some 50 missions to contend with, just to rescue the so-called Princess Fiona. So is Extra Large in fact, extra large? Not quite, but it is a sizeable platformer that's all round good fun. Replay, anyone?
