Pinball Advance Description

Since the launch of Game Boy Advance, it seems the little handheld has been a perfect host for the old pinball simulator game. Already, there are games such as Pinball of the Dead and Pinball Fantasies available that are well suited to the GBA's shoulder buttons. Well here's another one, creatively titled Pinball Advance. Developed by UK-based Rebellion Studios, Pinball Advance generally avoids the top down perspective that can be seen in most pinball games in favour of a more realistic first-person perspective, an angled table. There are three tables to master, Tarantula, Jailbreak and Daredevil, each with a series of objectives that must be completed to attain high scores, extra balls and jackpots on display. For example, when playing the Jailbreak table, you must plough through a series of trials to prove your innocence and presumably, collect a healthy compensation package in the form of a few million points. As bizarrely in-depth as it sounds, all you have to do is shoot the silver ball through a series of chutes and hit some targets using the flippers provided. It's sounds completely unoriginal and it is, but with pinball, it's all in the delivery. Figuring out to access different areas of the table is often more fun than scoring the jackpot. Table design is crucial and can make or break a pinball game. Pinball Fantasies excelled in this respect, but Pinball Advance looks set to give virtual table design a complete overhaul.
