Worms Blast Description

It's Worms, but not as we know it. Think Bust-A-Move and you've pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one. Yes, it's a puzzle game, but it's based on one of the most addictive gaming series since Tetris - Bust-A-Move. Worms Blast is all about survival: live longer than your opponent, and in the meantime, have lots of fun and make as many things explode as you can. It's what everyone wants from a game, isn't it? Basic gameplay consists of shooting a coloured bazooka at some coloured blocks. If the colours match, then the block is destroyed, along with all connecting blocks of the same colour. If the colours don't match, then the weapon colour 'splats' onto the block you hit, plus those immediately surrounding it. Yeah, we think it sounds familiar too. But wait, there's more! Those loveable yet ferocious Worms have other weapons too, such as grenades, dynamite and lasers that can be found hidden in crates 'locked' into the landscape. Land that becomes 'disconnected' from the top line will shake and then fall. The period of time for which they shake depends on the number of blocks in the falling section. The exception to this rule is if the land contains one or more anchor blocks. If a disconnected landmass contains an anchor block, it will not fall. Now although these are the basic rules, there are exceptions where developer Team 17 has bent and twisted them. Worms Blast expands on what is a remarkably simple yet sound game mechanic. There's enough of the original game style left for a little nostalgic pleasure, but there're are so many new and hidden features that in some respects, it's like playing a new game.
