The Mayan Adventure exploits traditional gameplay on the modern day handheld to provide a stunning adventure. Part way through an archaeological adventure, you discover that your senior partner, Pitfall Harry, has been kidnapped. The note he leaves behind tells you to continue the mission and be cautious. Are you ready for the journey ahead? As a side-on scrolling game, The Mayan Adventure is relatively easy to control. Move left, move right, jump, fight with a sword and throw items. As simple as it is, the levels pose a heavy challenge. From the very beginning of the game you will find yourself caught out by camouflaged pits and snakes. And if that wasn't bad enough, the level design is equally challenging. You will soon find yourself climbing trees, swinging across vines and dodging pendulums just to reach to next stage of the game. There are five stunning locations in all, including the Mayan temples, abandoned mines and the Xibalba Falls. Each area presents its own unique hazards and challenges, giving continuous variety to the gameplay, thus increasing the longevity of The Mayan Adventure. As a complete game, The Mayan Adventure suits the Game Boy Advance brilliantly and is ideal for portable gaming. Lovely.
