An American Tail: Fievel's Gold Rush Description

Young Fievel has been a popular little character since the early 1990's, but unlike most film and TV franchises, has had little involvement with video games. Well, Hokus-Pokus and Swing are set to change all that with the release of the quirky little platformer An American Tale: Fievel's Gold Rush for Game Boy Advance. The evil Cat-king Malone is still on his quest for vengeance against the little mouse and has kidnapped his entire family. Now you must embark upon a colossal journey to save them and rid Malone from the mouse-world for good. First things first, Fievel's Gold Rush is purely a platform game with little bits of cut scenes and storytelling thrown in for good measure. The game spans six completely different worlds that give players plenty of variety, at least in terms of visuals. Environments are large, colourful and include locations such as New York and the fictional town of Gold Dust Gulch. Gameplay consists of simple controls with a 'run-duck-jump' style of gameplay - old school, if you like. But, as ever, it's the simplicity of old gameplay methods that make Fievel's Gold Rush so compelling. It lacks complex gameplay, which is fantastic for the younger games player. Besides, platform games, particularly on handhelds, really shouldn't be too complex. Hopefully, today's younger games players will get a taste of retro-style gaming in all its glory with Fievel's Gold Rush. To find out what you PlayStation generation players missed out on, play this game.
