F-14 Tomcat Description

Who'd of though a combat flight simulator game would appear on a handheld console? Well, it's finally happened, it's for Game Boy Advance, it's called F-14 Tomcat, and it's a stunning title. Armed to the teeth with state-of-the-art weapons technology and placed in the cockpit of one of the world's greatest fighter planes, you are a recruit for the US Navy. Your job will be to protect yourself and your wingmates, and help diminish the threat of an evil enemy. But the bottom line is that you're here to play an action game, and F-14 Tomcat delivers in almost every way. Technically, the most impressive design aspect of the game is the pseudo-3D environment that houses the flight sim complexities of F-14 Tomcat. From the cockpit view, players are able to scroll 360 degrees through the complete environment and manoeuvre accordingly to match the enemy, giving the game an immersive sense of realism. And depending on the scenario at hand, players can fight head-to-head, or in an all out brawl for supremacy. But more importantly, and with the use of a link cable, up to four players can participate in a four-way combat onslaught. It's very similar to Lylat Wars' (Star Fox 64) multi-player game, which is great! It really is a fun game that isn't bogged down with the intricacies of its PC simulation relatives. The only thing missing is a flight yolk!
