Army Men: Green Rogue Description

What's bigger, tougher and has even more appeal for the ladies than the green canvas-clad outhouse that is Sarge of Army Men fame? Judging by the fawning female purring instructions to the titular Green Rogue, Omega Soldier is the new military poster boy. Either that or the killing machine can only understand people if they speak reeeallly slooowwly. The man himself certainly has a timbre that could cause a bowelquake if ever there were no weapons at hand, kinda like Duke Nukem and Fat Harry White rolled into one. So how was Omega Soldier conceived? A product of the Green Army's scientific research department, genetic samples have been taken from the force's finest men and spliced together to create the ultimate big green killing machine. This uber-soldier's strategy is to continuously upgrade his weapons and enhance his firepower as enemy forces increase and become more difficult to destroy. Your man will find plenty of pick-ups and boosts as he makes his way through the battlezones. Mortars, flame-throwers and the devastatingly effective bio-strike (this last weapon previously unseen in the Army Men series) are just some of the tools of destruction at your disposal. Omega Soldier also possesses characteristics not seen before in the numerous Army Men titles. Once the big fella has upgraded one or more of his basic standard-issue weapons to its maximum level, he literally gets the blues. His whole body turns a lovely shade of azure as he metamorphoses to become all-powerful, toting even more weapon power and the ability to absorb larger amounts of enemy attacks. Essential when things start to get really hairy, which will happen sooner rather than later, mark my words. Green Rogue is a handsome looking game: smooth graphics, nice colours, things you would expect of a PS2 title. The sound effects are just okay as the soft explosions and less than rapid fire will attest, but for those who haven't experienced 3DO's ever-expanding franchise and are PS2 owners to boot, Army Men: Green Rogue should get you on manoeuvres.
