7 Blades Description

Konami's role-playing efforts have been given a warm reception in the past. Games like Goemon and Vandal Hearts have proved Konami's abilities to tell an intriguing story and combine it with intense, thought-provoking battles. 7 Blades on PlayStation 2 is their latest attempt and it looks fantastic. Taking place in 18th century Japan on the island of Dejima, 7 Blades tells a story of mystery, terror, life, death and, yes, love. Following some questionable mysteries on the island, many samurai have been called to investigate. None have returned from their missions. To find out what's going on, play the game, we're not going to spoil it for you. The game has been rendered in full 3D, as you would expect, and boasts a variety of lovely graphical touches. These include light sourced polygons, some fantastic textures and attention to detail, and some truly stunning magical effects reminiscent of those seen in the Final Fantasy games. Visuals aside, the gameplay is more focused towards action and less towards storytelling and dialogue. Featuring lots of hack 'n' slash action, players can participate as one of two unique characters, each with very different sets of abilities. Many stages of this game see the enemy attacking in numbers, forcing the player to think quickly and act even faster. 7 Blades is effectively two different stories in one, giving considerable replay value to the game. Play with one character, then play with the other. Either way, you'll find 7 Blades thoroughly enjoyable.
