Pony Friends for Nintendo DS gives you the opportunity to populate those empty virtual stables with a choice of pony breeds. You can even customise your own pony by choosing its coat and mane and keeping it well-groomed and healthy. Taking your pony for trail rides is a large part of the action, as you'll have to keep it fit. You'll get to recognise each pony's special character and create a bond as they perform tricks for you - or even throw a tantrum or two. But remember, it's what you do that counts, as the more time you spend with your ponies, the more influence you will have on their behaviour. An excitable pony can be calmed down with care and attention, but leave it untended for a few days and it will go back to its old, wild ways. Similarly, a slow, plodding pony can be perked up and become more lively and fun. You can cheer your pony on in racing events, pet it using the DS Touch Screen, and try to get it to perform special tricks. Your pony might get ill and you may have to talk to the vet. Perhaps you've neglected it or not exercised it enough: all these factors will affect its performance, especially if you are planning to go to an event. But try not to worry too much - throughout the game, you will be given helpful tips to make your pony the most perfect in the whole stable.
