FIFA 08 on Nintendo DS is no lazy port of some bigger console with no new additions to the gameplay, oh no. Absolutely not.
This time around on Nintendo's handheld wonder, you can design your own team formations with the use of the stylus. Player positions and movement are at your mercy. Other new features include Scenario Mode, in which you can challenge not only yourself, but you can also challenge your friends. Note that one of these scenarios is a niftily-designed penalty shoot-out which, without wanting to give too much away, is a fantastic use of the DS stylus. We're sure you can imagine what it is if you haven't already seen it in action.
In addition to the new Scenario Mode, there's the Manager Mode which shows you as much of the office as it does of the football pitch. But what about the gameplay, you may ask. Well, the developers have done a fine job in giving DS owners another hot slice of footy action. It's quite a handful. The controls are nice and responsive, and of course, if you dim the lights right, you can almost smell the freshly-cut grass. FIFA 08 on DS is looking good, and will make those interminable journeys that are part of everyday life a little shorter.
