Call of Duty 3 Description

The Call of Duty series has been a huge success on a number of platforms. It's part of the UK Wii launch line-up. The familiar action combat game makes maximum use of the Wii's revolutionary control system to give players the most involving experience yet offered by the series on any platform. The ususal Cal of Duty features are all here: intense battle sequences, endless swarms of enemy troups and ear-splitting explosions. But now there are more of everything, more explosions and enemies than ever before. You take part in the Normandy breakout campaign that took the allied froces from the beaches of northern France, through to liberate Paris. Built from the ground up for next-gen platforms like the Wii, Call of Duty 3 features extendsive use of laser scanning technology, to create a more realistic battlefield experience. Weapons and soldier uniforms are accurately recreated. An improved physics engine enables enemy soldiers to destroy soft cover, so items of scenery you hide behind can be eroded by gunfire and explosions - so you need to keep on the move. But you can do the same to them. The addition to the game of Battle Actions make close up combat, planting explosives, rowing a boat and other in-game activities more involving than ever before. And the creative use of the Wii controllers makes them even more involving than on any other platform. This time round, the tried and tested gameplay of Call of Duty is more strategic than ever, requiring the player to alter his tactics depending on which approach to a mission objective he chooses to take. The mission path branches depending on the route and approach you take.

Call of Duty 3, was for me, just way to short. You could finish it in one good sitting. If you've played other COD games, this is just pretty much more of the same, just using a different control method. The controls could at times be a pain. Easy to use in open fields, but in close quarter battles, they just didnt have the swiftness required. Also, the game seemed to lag when big battle scenes occured. Or maybe my Wii is just defective. In conclusion, its nothing great. Its passable as a war fps, but the controls could have been better done.

Since there aren't many titles on the Wii - this is definately a title worth checking. If you have played the rest of the Call of Duty games you will feel pretty much at home. One thing that really annoyed me is the annoying jestures that sometimes had to be done on screen i.e. a german comes out of nowhere and you have to hassle him off and also some of the other jestures seem to have to be so accurate or maybe it is because i am left handed. It can also be completed in a very short time of about 7-10 hours approximately. Graphics - 5/10 Sound - 5/10 Gameplay - 7/10 Length of Game - 5/10 Conclusion: Worth playing. Wouldn't buy the game though since it offers no multiplayer aspect or any replay value.

I've not played any of the other Call of Duty titles, and so this may put me at a disadvantage, but I'm a huge counterstrike fan, and this looks to be as close as I could get on the Wii at the moment. I put the game in, and endured the few minutes of preamble, waiting for the game to start. You are given a very short "training" session and then are pitched right into the middle of a battle. I found the different controls very confusing, and the movement of the remote far too fast to be able to control it properly. I looked in vain for a sensitivity control, and then tried again. It was only a few minutes (or seconds) into the game before I was dead for one reason or another. I found the balance of the background noise much too loud to be able to hear the instructions on what I was supposed to be doing. Frustration set in quite quickly and soon the game was turned off and put back into its envelope. Graphics were pretty good, although a little blurry at times. Sounds were very confusing, because of the mentioned balance between effects and instructions. I can't give it higher than 2 stars because I just found it too hard to play, however someone with more experience in this type of game might find it better.

After the decent Red Steel I figured that CoD 3 would be great fun but it's not it's really bad. The aiming is awful as it is impossible to aim at an enemy even if you are standing right infront of them as no matter where you point the remote at the screen the camera will always drift up, down, left or right all the time and this gets very frustrating. The controls are also a pain and graphics could be better so if you want a FPS for the Wii stick with Red Steel.
