Ultimate Ghosts 'n' Goblins Description

Ultimate Ghosts 'n' Goblins is an attractive pitch to anyone harbouring an interest in gaming for any length of time. The side-scrolling, power-up based action platformer sits in the royal court of videogames with the brilliant Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, and still stands up to anything to that's come along since with ease. A 2D remake of GNG has been demanded by fans for well over a decade. Capcom listened, and here it is, Ultimate Ghosts 'n' Goblins, starring the nappy-wearing, loosely-armoured knight Sir Arthur. Not a great deal has changed as the years have ticked by, with much of the development talent responsible for coding the original coin-op being re-employed for this surprisingly high-profile update for Sony's PlayStation Portable. At least that's what they say. It might be the teaboy for all we know. Either way, his brown rice tea dunking skills have powered a new version in the classic series everyone will be able to pick up and play. There's not going to be anything that shocks you to death when you play UGNG. It's a 2D game, rendered with lovely 3D backgrounds and enemies. The gameplay is strictly flat throughout, however, and we wouldn't want it any other way. Perhaps the only big change is the addition of open-ended levels, with storyline and gameplay variations on offer for the more adventurous players. The game can be saved many times with the save-points remaining open to explore at your leisure. The storyline brims with originality and sees hero Sir Arthur on a quest to save the Realm's princess from The Dark Lord who has abducted her for whatever purpose Dark Lords abduct princesses. We can't imagine it's only for cookie-cutter game storylines, though we're very glad that even in the depths of 2006, the tradition is still upheld.
