World Tour Soccer 2 Description

World Tour Soccer 2 kicks off on the PSP, bringing more of the same arcade football action as its predecessor. And the timing of its release couldn't be better if they'd planned it. Oh, apparently they DID plan it! Obviously, the huge success of EA's FIFA and Konami's Pro Evolution franchises has not escaped Sony's attention of - Sony must feel there's room for another football game in people's collections. Also, there is the small matter of the 2006 FIFA World Cup which is being held in Germany at the time of release. And with England likely to crash out just as the game hits the shelves, this might be the only football action many fans will see for a while. World Tour differs from other games in the genre in two ways. Firstly, there's the World Tour mode which has players touring the globe (surpise that, eh!) with one of 71 real-life teams in search of on-pitch glory. Secondly there is much focus placed on skills and challenges during play. Playing with style, while looking good at the same time enables the player to build up a high score that is more important than the actual result of the game. As you progress, you will unlock new teams, game modes and All Star teams. World Tour Soccer 2 offers 11 game modes, each encouraging gamers to play in a different style - there are modes that require the player to score within 15 seconds of gaining possession, mdes that require each team member to have a touch of the ball before a goal can be scored, and more... and the game makes us of the PSP's on-line capabilites to enable further game modes to be downloaded.

Features
  • Play Now Mode -The Artificial Intelligence (AI) will select, at random, the type of challenge and a pair of evenly matched teams for a quick game on the go.

  • World Tour Mode - Players select from 10 different challenges, where points are awarded for successful play. Gamers accumulate enough points to open the next challenge where competition gets increasingly difficult.

  • Medal Mode - Players choose the challenge, continent and teams and attempt to take on the World?s best from Africa, Asia, North America, South America and Europe, and ultimately dominate the Globe.

  • 10 All-New Challenges - World Tour Soccer ?06 offers a collection of quick (four-minute), point-based game play options, with each offering unique soccer challenges.
    • Classic Challenge - Players can earn or lose points for each aspect of the game on offense and/or defense, depending on their play. Stylish soccer skills earn points, while poor play on the pitch can hurt a player?s score.
    • The Zone Challenge - Playing in certain areas of the pitch will gain extra points and by adapting playing style and strategy to get In the Zone.
    • Challenge Plus - By paying attention to special rules and exploiting them at the right times players will get a boost in score. (Example: Completing a cross passes and long passes). However, to keep players on their toes, each challenge will vary.
    • Totally Outnumbered Challenge - Players will start a match with fewer players on their team than their opponents, it will take extra skill and finesses to score.
    • Time Attack Challenge - Players must reach a target before the clock runs down or it?s over. Every target the player passes will add bonus time to the clock. (Example: Time Bonus for every 250 points earned, 100 seconds to reach the first marker.)
    • Pass Clock Challenge - The Pass Clock limits the amount of time that any single player on the pitch is allowed to remain in possession of the ball. Users must maneuver their players and pass quickly, because if the clock runs down, they?ll concede a free kick. (Example: Pass in 2.5 seconds)
    • Checkpoint Challenge - Players must dribble or pass the ball through checkpoints to improve their score. (Example: Each checkpoint passed adds .5 seconds)
    • Shot Clock Challenge - Players must get the ball forward quickly and get a shot off before the clock runs down. If the player?s team still has possession of the ball when the clock runs out, they will concede a free kick.
    • Player Tag Challenge - Players must pass to highlighted teammates without losing the ball. By tagging the all players, the team will earn the right to score. If they score before all players are tagged, the goal won?t count. (Example: Five passes required in order to score)
    • All-Rounder - Players must pass to all eleven of their teammates before taking a shot on goal, otherwise goals scored too early will not count.
