Samurai Shodown V Description

Samurai Shodown V (SSV) is the first instalment in the series since 1999. It was one of the first fighting games to let players battle each other with weapons, the Samurai Shodown series has long been known for its original gameplay and authentic anime stylisation. SSV offers several new features to fans of the series. Characters can meditate in the heat of battle to affect their stats and can also slow down time for their opponent. Fans of the series will be pleased to know that old favourites make a welcome return, such as the ability to throw down your weapons and fight unarmed. There are 27 different characters to choose from in SSV, nine of which being completely new to the franchise. There are also brand new sprites that have been hand-drawn both lovingly and in great detail. The game has seen improvements in certain areas, such as a slow-motion feature, so you can marvel in the way you dispatched your last opponent. There are also several all-new game stages and power systems for players to get stuck into. On the Xbox version of the game, there is Xbox Live online play available, including tournament, rematch and head-to-head modes.

Features

The Samurai Shodown series has also been known for its willingness to tinker with its unique fighting system, and has resulted in a number of changes over the years. This instalment is no different, and offers several new features for the dedicated player. Characters can meditate in the heat of battle to affect their stats, and even slow down time for their opponent. Old faithfuls return, and talented gamers can throw their weapons down and fight unarmed.

Fans of SNKs fighting games have been clamouring for an update to the Samurai Shodown series, says Peter Rollinson, Product Manager, Ignition Entertainment. They feel very different to the King of Fighters games and offer a completely different style of gameplay to other 2D fighters. Samurai Shodown V is the most complete and refined iteration yet.
