Test Drive Unlimited Description

Test Drive Unlimited for the Xbox 360 is alleged by publisher Atari to be the most complete and revolutionary driving game ever made. The game gives players the opportunity to visit some of the most sophisticated car and motorbike dealerships in the world (each rendered to replicate the manufacturer's real-life showrooms) to purchase new vehicles or simply take them for a test drive. All the customisations (interior and exterior) you would expect to buy from a real-world manufacturer are available in Test Drive Unlimited. Atari's automotive extravaganza challenges players both online and offline to experience some of the most beautiful and outrageous vehicles known to man on more than 1,000 miles of Hawaii's gorgeous Oahu island roads. If gamers win their races, challenges, missions and tournaments, they will earn credits that will enable them to purchase new homes, cars, bikes, accessories (from the actual manufacturer's catalogue) and garages. Test Drive Unlimited offers gamers 90 of the most desirable cars and bikes in the world, including Lamborghini, Ducati, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Shelby, Mercedes, Pagani, Koenigsegg, Saleen and Jaguar - each marque officially licensed. With a jaw-dropping 360 multiplayer and solo challenges (do you think that number bears any significance? - Ed) including 125 online and offline race challenges, 44 time challenges, 51 speed challenges, 40 club challenges and much more, there should be something to keep even the most experienced racing fan happy. If that isn't enough for you, then there is also the added option to design your own challenge. As well as purchasing some of the most elegant automobiles on planet Earth, using the prize money from winning races and completing challenges, you can also treat yourself to a mansion in the hills. Other features that will no doubt keep you amused include various side missions, hitchhikers looking for a free ride, and sexy girls wanting to be picked up. The Xbox Live facility allows you to challenge gamers from around the world in eight-player races or meet with thousands of other race enthusiasts in the 24/7 online community to chat, trade and race.

dont be put off by people reviewing the demo i tried it and found it average ,but the final game is top notch. ive spent hours just driving around using the in car view and enjoying the games most realistic enviroments . forget forza and pgr3 this should be played properly before people make comments

i have already played the 15 minute demo on xbox live's marketplace..and this game is highly recommend to ppl who have played san andreas, gran turismo,pgr3..the game has elements of SA where if you cause trouble on the roads you will get a wanted star level and get chased by the police..in the demo there is just 3 cars to play with but in the final version there is over 150+ cars and motorbikes to drive about..highly recommened to rent or pre order

Test Drive Unlimited is a game that has cars and races, so technically it's a racing game, but more than anything it's more of a lifestyle game, where the collecting of beautiful cars and massive houses will be what makes you want to play the game long term.

Mastering and understanding how each car handles differently is the key to getting anywhere with the challenges, which are how you gain money to purchase cars and houses in the game.

If you're looking for a quick-paced, frantic racing game, I wouldn't recommend this game to you, but if you like the idea of driving around a Hawaiian island in a Koenigsegg for hours on end, and taking part in the challenges dotted around now and then, give it a try.

It's a great game for casual playing and for collecting everything over time, which is why I bought the game.

I played this game at length, takes itself to seriously... because you drive in 'real-time' it can take you 20 to 30 minutes to drive from one location to the next... that is until you've been to every location on the map then you can just beam there, you know like Str Trek using the GPS system. Anyway after the initial buzz and excitement I unlucked the bikes the cool cars baught some horrible clothes and gave a lift to some super models. NIce idea but if I wanted to drive in real time I'd hop on my Yamaha or drive my car. Still nice graphics.

After playing through PGR3, I decided to try Test Drive Unlimited as my next foray into 360 racing ! To date, it has not been a very pleasant experience. The game is of a different style to PGR3 and so too many comparisons should be avoided. But, on most levels, Bizzare's racer comes out on top every time ! Graphically, TDU is poor. The frame rate is inconsistent, and with a huge island to explore, pop-up is not only inevitable, but always present. The car handling finds itself between arcade and simulation and a more defined lean to eithier may have improved the game. As a racing type genre, the game is a cross between Burnout and Need For Speed, but both of these titles eclipse this offering from Atari. I would not spend ?40ish on this game and so I recommend a rent from Swapgame first !

I've been playing this game for 3 hours now, trying to get into it... I think it is one of the worse xbox 360 titles! Graphics aren't good, gameplay is very poor, sounds are dull and handling of any car is rubbish. The bst thing about this game is looking around a car in a showroom, yet still the graphics aren't what they should be!

only played the demo but in my opinion the game which promised so much has delivered so little. there is limited to no computer ai the ''island'' seems rushed the graphics are below average but at the end of the day it is made as an arcade game but what was such a great idea has been let down by the final product.
