Prey Description

Tommy is a simple garage mechanic on his home reservation. He dreams of bigger things, like venturing out into the bigger, wider world, away from his family and his roots. But his girlfriend Jen wants to stay - to build her life there. She runs the reservation's Roadhouse, a popular meeting place/hub/watering hole for the locals. Jen loves her home and work, and can't understand why Tommy would want to leave. Talking of leaving? Prey's story begins in the men's room at the Roadhouse. Suddenly, there's an eerie light bathing the whole building and the roof is being torn away. The strange lights in the sky were what folks most feared - unidentified flying objects - and as the roof came away from the Roadhouse, the giant craft beamed everyone aboard. From this point on, things get seriously weird, as Prey begins to toy with your mind. The ship that Tommy has been beamed aboard is a living breathing entity, reacting to what goes on within and around it. Prey is no ordinary FPS in that it raises the expectations of the genre and then subjects it to some extraordinary gameplay features, such as wall-walking, gravity manipulation, spirit-walking and an aggressive environment fraught with danger. Throughout Prey, Tommy interacts with three different environments: the physical world of humans and alien; the co-existing spirit world of aliens and humans that contains hidden features that Tommy can use to his advantage; and the death world, where Tommy must fight wraiths to return to the physical world: normality, if that's what it really is. Prey has been in the pipeline for a long, long time, and originally solely as a PC project. The wait has been worth it, and Prey is certainly worth every minute invested by the developer, and every penny spent by the punter to get a hold of this mind-warping game that packs not only an emotional punch, but the visceral type too.

A very scary and fantastic game. This game is like no other because enemies can appear from nowhere and with this new gravity thingny your character can run up on walls and upsidedown and also the spirit hawk is a real help

I believe that the user who put one star did it by mistake. This is a must buy game therefore a must rental. Absolutly amazing. If you want a fantastic experiance with the xbox360. I would highly reconmend this one. Especcily those Fps fans out there. If your still at school and your teacher tell you to define gravity. Give them this game. They cannot complain :)

amazing game, graphics are fantastic. at first i thought, "here we go, another doom 3 or quake 4 spin off" (both of which bored me witless with the repetitive action and ridiculous length) becuase the style is so similar, but after playing for 5 mins i was hooked, an awesome game! i bought it myself and have played it several times over. its very unique, and although i didnt find it scary in the slightest, it is a brilliant game! you wont be able to put it down after you start playing!

Loved it!!! I also thought it was going to be another Doom copy but it had that extra touch to keep you interested...I actually borrowed it of one of my mates but I would still have been chuffed if I'd had received it from GS...Well worth renting if not buying.

Prey's single-player is very fun and intuitive. It never really cashes in on its full potential, but you can't go wrong with a rental. The singel-player, while well-branched, can be linear and a little predictable. Use of features like portals may seem amazing in conception, but they may as well be doors that are only ever leading you to where you need to go. Portals aren't really anything technilogically amazing, there is never a random portal that may take somewhere off course in the story - it's a very strict routine, but that said, it's a much more illustrious level-opener than some door. Things like the portals are where Prey doesn't necessarily deliver. Other features such as the ability to defy gravity on certain paths and walk upside down are certainly intuinitive, but not revoltionary like you might think. Still, niggles aside, Prey is a fun (if short) singel-player experience that has very well done immersion and ambience from the get go, landing you right in the murky atmosphere. The online multi-player side of things is a little weaker. Most games lag quite a bit, and despite nearly all the maps boasting some kind of Prey's unique components, such as the portals, etc. the design is a little boring and contrived. However, negatives aside, it's a great rental that will last you a good solid week or two. Definitely recommended.

Although this is a fairly generic run-of-the-mill first person shooter, it has enough variation in terms of its level design, to make it stand out from the crowd. The single player campaign get get a bit 'samey', but it is fairly easy to complete and hence unlock a few hundred achievement points. Online, the multiplayer is enhanced by the 360 degree maps that have you looking in every direction for your enemies. A sure fire purchase once you've rented (and available for about 18 quid online).

Very good showcase of the potential of the 360. Yes its short, but not too short that you would feel cheated out of your money. Where this game probably comes into its own is the online play. Im not on XBOX live, YET!!!! but I can see that it would work very well. Only criticism I have is that a couple of the weapons lack a bit of oomph, or wow factor. On the whole a good game to rent, but if you are on XBOX live I think it is one you should buy.

Like Doom 3 with portals and gravity tricks the level design was below par i had to really push myself to get threw this. if you don't completely love FPS I wouldn't. the fact there are only about 3 enemy types really sucks the fun out this aswell. oh yeah and while im at it the stories pants :P

An amazing game. Even worth purchasing, everything about it has been tweaked to possibly the best it could have. Perfect single player, not to long not to short, great fun. The Mulitiplayer is also brilliant, although not as good as the single player, but can keep you occupied for hours and hours. Definately worth renting
