Amped 3 Description

The success of the legendary 1080 Snowboarding on N64, everybody wanted a version of the new genre for their console. The belated and, if we're honest, disappointing, sequel, 1080 Avalanche on the GameCube, didn't get there in time to claim the crown that should have been its by birthright, though. That's because somebody had already made a better selling snowboard series, indeed, a whole dynasty of them: Electronic Arts. There'll be none of the usual criticism of the industry behemoth here, though. EA are regularly pilloried for derivative games and unfailing sequels, but the SSX games really are splendid, and have gone from strength to strength. They are regarded by many as the finest snowboarding games available. But not by many Xbox owner/fanboys, who'll rarely be overheard espousing the awesomeness of anything other than their beloved Amped. The first Amped set out its stall with a huge array customisable fashion for your snowboarder. And it also included an enormous library of music to nod your trendy head to knowingly. 150 songs to be precise - famously the most ever on any videogame at the time. Amped 2 brought more of everything - more clothes, more music, and bigger mountains. Now a new Amped graces the screen of a new Xbox. Amped 3 is bigger in every way than its predecessors. The intriguing storyline follows a gang of snowboarding misfits and will take you through no less than seven mountainous environments, each more than three times larger than anything you've seen before in an Amped game. Each one is based on a real life resort, and being a radical sort of dude, you don't stick to the designated runs - you're free to roam wherever you like. You can also customise the resorts' parks, choosing where you put rails and ramps, and you're not limited to your board, with the opportunity to try out sleds and snowmobiles also on offer. The Amped ethos continues, too, with more than 300 tracks to listen to, and even the most beard-stroking among you will be satisfied by the revelation that every single one is taken from the catalogues of independent record labels. This is a 360 game, so expect lush graphics, and some online content - in this case an online leaderboard where you can post your high scores. Gnarly.

Article: Amped 3
Amped 3 is a fun title that perhaps tries a little too hard not to take itself seriously; those who prefer their sports titles to have an inkling of sophistication will quickly find the game on its way back to the shop, however if you're just looking for fun then Amped 3 does the job.  There's a wide variety of tasks and challenges to keep the experience fresh and the style will keep you entertained provided you're a fan of the aforementioned influences.

Amped 3, what a game. I have both Amped and Amped 2, and i am comparing this game to them and to other snowboarding games that are out also. This game was definately unique and really blew me away. I thought this game would be half of what it is. I'm not saying it is a perfect game, is worth checking out for sure. The thing i am pissed about is the fact that this game had no online mode. What is up with that? Is that really generation gaming? Well let me answer for you... no it isn't. I can guarantee you if this game was made for the regular xbox it would definately have online play. Think about it, when a game comes out for the xbox it always has online play or a lot of people don't buy it. So why doesn't it have online play? Well, i personally think it is because they rushed it so it could come out at launch. Amped 2 was an awesome game. How does Amped 3 compare to this one? Not close. Amped 3 is good, but seriously, i would rather play Amped 2 on the regular xbox then on the 360. Is that good for a 360 game? NOOOooo! The controls are way worse, they should have kept them the same. Plus, in Amped 3 to grind you just have to jump near it. Well, i don't always want to grind. You should have to press y or something because that is just stupid. Graphics is another issue. Amped 3's are just barely better. Is that next generation? NOOOooo! Gameplay is good. There is a lot more to do than the previous games. In the middle of a run you can get out your snowmobile and go right back to the top which i like doing a lot. You can place things on mountains like ramps an rails which can help you pull of better combos. The gameplay is a little too much like SSX. I'm not saying it SSX is bad, it's just that Amped 3 is a lot like it and not more like Amped 2. Sound is a big improvement here with over 300 tracks (a lot of them suck) and with better sound effects while grinding or landing a jump. After all that said, it is definately worth CHECKING out, which by that i mean rent. Not buy. If you liked Amped 2 and you do not have xbox live, i reccomend this game because it has enough to keep you playing for a long time to come. If you do have xbox live and you loved Amped 2 online, i'm not sure if this is for you. This game has so much to offer with cool tricks and sweet mountains, but where is that online play? How do you make Amped 2 with it, and Amped 3 without it? That makes no sense what so ever.

If it wasn't for the achievement points, there would be no reason to play Amped 3 at all. Why did they change the format style and loose the psuedo-realism of Amped 1 and 2 in favour of outrageous SSX style boarding? Rushed effort, could do better. Oh yeh dude... welcome to online gaming...not!
Features
  • Massive Mountains - Amped 3 features seven new resorts, up to three times larger than levels in Amped 1 and 2. Take on hundreds of challenges around the resorts, or pull out your sled and try to hang on for dear life. Explore the entire mountain on a snowmobile, get away from it all in the back country, or find the perfect spot and build your own obstacles, rails, and jumps.

  • Snowbox - The resorts are loaded with hundreds of challenges; beat them and earn upgrades, new stuff, or Coin you can use to buy a ton of swag. And these challenges aren't just about your skills on a snowboard...there's snowmobiling, sledding, and more. All your top scored runs, hang-times and crashes are automatically posted for all to see on LiveTM...see how you measure up against the rest of the planet and go grab the top spot.

  • Park Builder - Anywhere, anytime, you can plant your own jumps and rails to create a personal terrain park, add things to trick off to get better High Scores, or just make a difficult challenge a little easier. You can even create your own sessioning area. And you earn newer and crazier objects to plant as you play the game.

  • Coop Sled Slaughter - Hop on a sled and just try to hang on! The longer you can rise, the greater the destruction and carnage... and the bigger your medical bills (aka high score). Or, if you want to teach your buddy a lesson, tie your sleds together and see who can do more damage to themselves. Good times!

  • Snow Tracks - Over 300 new indie music tracks...again Amped 3 offers up more fresh tracks than any game ever made.

  • Story - Amped 3 stays true to its roots with the most authentic trick-based snowboarding game that is played out in an incredibly cool new story that takes you on a mind-blowing trip into the snowboarding subconscious. You and crew have been saving up cash for a trip to Chile, where you all plan to keep riding until the money runs out. But when someone steals the cash and tries to pin it on you, the rest of the crew mysteriously disappears and you're on your own. Then things get REALLY weird. It's up to you to find out what the crap is goin' on as you ride some of the greatest resorts around the world and conquer your nemesis.
