MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf continues the massive destructible environments, intense combat and addictive online multiplayer gameplay that gamers have been praising since "MechAssault" first hit Xbox.
Continuing in the 31st century, "MechAssault 2" allows gamers to encounter entirely new experiences in the epic BattleTech world. This third-person action/shooter game defines immense destruction taken to another level, as each environment in the game's five worlds is fully destructible.
Players choose from a variety of weapons and vehicles- from the stealthy Raptor 'Mech to the 'Mech-jacking BattleArmor-all equipped with different weapon configurations and artillery. They can embark on the brand-new and intensive single-player campaign, or test teamwork skills to defeat the enemy in the ultimate online multiplayer experience. In addition, players will benefit by strategizing and communicating with their teammates via the Xbox Live Communicator headset.

| Before I begin I'd like to say I do not currently have Xbox live, and so I can only comment on the single player side of Mechassault 2. The game beats its predecessor in every way, shape and form. It has much better graphics, a much more variable and fun gaming experience and a wider variety of big metal monsters to play with. I found the plot of the campaign much better than in the first game, and you felt like you actually had a purpose doing what you do. The voice acting is well done and the characters all have actual personalities rather than seeming just like random people in the way of you shooting things. The battle suit is a great addition to the game, and gives the missions a bit more spice, as you clamber up walls and jump onto the back of an enemy mech and steal it. also the missions that take place on foot are some of the most challenging and in my opinion best parts of the game. You really get a sense of scale which wa sabsent from the first game, as you look up at one of the towering behemoths that are mechs. The campaign is too short in my opinion, but at least it wasn't so long as that you get bored half way through and never complete the game. The "boss" mechs that you face at some points in the game add a good bit of variation to the game, and are truly huge! I would reccomend to anyone to rent this game, or if you are an xbox live player perhaps even buy it, as the community for mech assault 2 is hugely active. 4 stars out of 5, as it is very good, but the campaign isnt long enough and I just wish you could customise mechs- something I hope they add for the third game in the series. | ||
