Kya: Dark Lineage Description

When the 3D gaming age began, the free-roaming adventure became one of the most prolific gaming genres. Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Tak and Sphinx are all popular PS2 outings for the same reasons. And now there's another from Atari - the Eden-developed Kya: Dark Lineage. Plunged into a mysterious and hostile world, Kya must find her way through myriad traps and dangers in order to find her lost brother and a way back home. On the way, she discovers the Nativs, a peaceful tribe oppressed by the Wolfens - a menacing army controlled by the evil Brazul. As Kya, you must lead the rebellion of the Nativs, and the only way to do it is to master a variety of magical powers to liberate the Wolfens from their mystical imprisonment and restore their Nativ identity. Fundamentally, Dark Lineage is very much a standard platform adventure. Players are gifted with several abilities that must be used in specific ways to earn their way deeper into the adventure. But with games like this, it's the intricacies of gameplay that help them stand apart from one another. Here, it's the challenge of searching for and releasing Nativs that is crucial to your quest. In Dark Lineage, these Nativs are the most precious of 'collectibles'. If you collect enough of them, Nativ City will begin to grow and prosper, and in turn, this will allow you to purchase power-ups and abilities that will help you draw closer to the final showdown with Brazul. All in all, Dark Lineage plays host to a gorgeous fantasy world, filled with vibrant characters, solid gameplay, and some 34 revealing quests and side quests. If you're a fan of platformers and other Mario 64 clones, then Kya: Dark Lineage is for you.
