Buffy The Vampire Slayer Description

Typical student by day, fierce destroyer of the undead by night, it's got to be said that Buffy Summers leads quite an interesting life. And we'd all certainly like to get into her, erm... shoes. Well now you can as third person, action/adventure game Buffy the Vampire Slayer comes to an Xbox near you. Combining quite a heavy mix of fighting, action, drama, exploration and humour, Buffy casts the player into a complex interactive 3D environment where, you guessed it, there are a number of vampires to be dealt with. As the background story would have it, powerful demons known as the Old Ones were, at some point in history, forced to retreat to the depths of hell, while mortal man ruled the earth. In a present day attempt to take over the world, the Old Ones are building a bridge between hell and earth, leading an army of demons into the living world. Meet Buffy Summers, the star of the show who, rather surprisingly, has been honoured with the responsibility of being the 'Chosen One', the 'One and Only', the 'Saviour of the Earth', blah blah blah. So it's up to her to kick some serious butt and save the world from impending evil. Featuring the voices of the TV series' favourite characters, including Angel, Xander, Willow and Cordelia, the game recreates all Buffy's favourite haunts (Sunnydale High, the cemetery, the Bronze nightclub, the library) as well as all the usual enemies, such as Spike, The Master and Drusilla. Fighting involves a cross between martial arts and gymnastics, with an intelligent combat system that allows enemies to perform counter attacks and learn from players' fighting techniques. As well as this, Buffy has special abilities and powers - Slayer Powers - which can be used to destroy the enemy, depending on her current level of experience and power. Not the most original game concept these days, Buffy the game does however remain extremely faithful to its TV equivalent, so should be of no disappointment to its huge fanbase. It does also feature the lovely Sarah Michelle Gellar, which is nice.
