Halo 2 Description

In 2002, long-time FPS developer Bungie accomplished something that showed the industry just what it was capable of. That was Halo, a launch title for the much-vaunted Xbox that was dubbed by the media as a killer app for Microsoft's new console. It was a resounding success, and so Bungie quickly got to work on the sequel, a spanking new adventure that continues the story of the ongoing war between humankind and the relentless alien Covenant. To many Xbox owners, it's been a long and arduous wait, but after two and a half years, Halo 2 is at long last been unleashed. Remarkably, and as Halo fanatics the world over had hoped, Halo 2 somehow manages to evolve beyond the original game. Taking on board the minor criticisms of Halo, Bungie's sequel refines the basic play mechanic and already-stunning AI of its predecessor to deliver something bigger, better and bolder than before. One of Bungie's greatest strengths lies in its ability to create a game world that is paced in a dynamic fashion, and Halo 2 is a prime example. From the outset, players are free to tackle the game's vast locales in multiple ways, whether they charge in guns-blazing or adopt a more subtle, almost stealth-like approach. This is partly thanks to some diverse level design and enhanced player abilities that give players the freedom to make their own choices from level to level. Because many of Halo 2's beautifully rendered environments are wide open areas filled to the brim with numerous props and hiding places, any given level can be completed in several ways. Secondly, your enhanced super-soldier can now wield and control two weapons at once (provided those weapons can be held in one hand) offering a more gung-ho approach for trigger-happy gamers. That's all well and good, but there is one key feature in Halo 2 that's puts most others in the genre to shame, and that's AI. Artificial Intelligence is an aspect of game development that some software houses will overlook too often for our liking. Bungie, however, realised a long time ago that a good FPS can only become a great FPS with the aid of smart opponents. Halo demonstrated just that, and its sequel does even more so. Level after level, hostile members of the alien Covenant behave in a manner that is not only smart, but also difficult to second guess. It's as if your enemies have been trained - they react to your actions as any solider would, and they are more than capable in combat. Single-player game aside, Halo 2's multi-player experience is unrivalled. Accommodating 16 players via Live!, Halo 2 comes blessed with more than a dozen multi-player maps that are well suited to all of the game's multi-player modes. These comprise of Slayer, Oddball, Juggernaut and of course, Capture the Flag. Maps vary in size, with some geared towards larger parties, but all boast the usual plethora of pick-ups and weapons, and parties can even commandeer a number of vehicles to swing the battle in their favour. Together with online rankings, the option to set up clans and parties and the ability to communicate via headset, Halo 2 together with Live! is host to a truly communal online environment. It's difficult to criticise any area of Halo 2, because Bungie has produced a game that somehow manages to surpass its first-class predecessor in almost every way. We can only imagine what a third instalment on Xbox 2 would be like...here's hoping.

i own this game an i think its fantastic i love the multiplayer and the gameplay. i find this incradibly fun especcily whan u compete against ur freinds. the single player is okie but could have done better to it fare play to those out there disapointed in single player ecuase once u completed it once u carnt be botherd to go bak and complate it againt for heroic of legendary! i think if they added onlin cooperative in single player that would have been great becuase single player would be in more use, more fun and more helpful for those that want to get there legendary pass:) but over all i love this game and ive had it for ages and still play it and more than others even the new ones out today:) thats why i give it 5 stars!!

Halo 2 has got to be the best online exsperience ever. I could spend days and nights playing against the yanks and would loose all sense of reality. Wish there were a few more levels to play online but i cant complain. Try big team battles 8vs8 its brilliant or SHWATGUNS or Sniper , brilliant brilliant. Cant wait for Halo 3 to come out on the 360.

I was really looking forward to Halo 2. That's probablly why it was a little let down to me. It's just that the storyline is a bit... bad. And the ending is even worse (although it does make you really want to buy the next one - if there is going to be one). The gameplay however is amazing - controls are simple, weapons well balanced, graphics are awsome, AI very good, etc. But what it all comes down to really is multiplayer and online play. You can spend HOURS just playing it and still want more! This is why it gets 5 stars. In my opinion, original Halo is for the stroryline, Halo 2 is for multiplayer! Speaking of which, I'm guna go play online now!

a diaapointment than what was expected,we saw a lot of short trailers of levels on the main game and thought wow. shame not all of those got in single although better graphicly and bigger levels they won;t as fun to play often involving a maze of alien ships or places. halo (1) with its open spaces and based mainly on earth was much more fun to play. the only thing that saves it is mutiplayer and xbox live it is great online though has a few flaws such as the match making taking to long which they r meant to be working on i wish there was a bit more skill involved like more bigger levels and long range weapons so you can pick people off but part from that its good great muti player its just not the game we were expecting to get and its a shame a lot of the stuff didn't get it it does how ever have duel wielding,hi jacking vichcles, loads of new weapons, pistol has been made less powerful (no more shooting someone from 500yards)and the plasma sword is playable on both single player and muti player but i wish the plasma sword had a limited amount of energy on mutiplayer like on single player so that it is more fair (the sword is to easy to get to and it can sometimes secure u a win)

im sorry, but this was the biggest let down i have ever had. this game is dreadful. after the first 5 missions or so i was bored witless. the game just becomes stagnant. all you every seem to do is go into another structure infested with flood. and my god, that level where you are the covenant and you go down that looooong elevator is infuriatingly slow and boring. it picks itself up by the last few levels but the middle bit is just depressingly bad. the areas are usually too big so you cant find your way around, and they got rid of the assault rifle and replaced it with a crappy one handed version SMG that is like a pellet gun, none of the weapons have that heavy feel, the powerful look and exciting sound. The battle rifle is another alternative. dreadful weapon, fires 3 round in a burst and makes a tinny sound when shot. the most ovverated game ever.
