F1 Career Challenge Description

Released alongside the PC game F1 Challenge 99-02, this latest Formula One title for the PS2 is essentially the same idea, positioning you as a rookie who must prove your worth throughout the whole career of a racing driver. This main career mode is initially embarked upon through the completion of a range of super licence tests, whereupon you are subsequently rewarded with the opportunity to take your place alongside today's greatest F1 stars. From here, your driving skills and subsequent reputation will determine how far your career can take you and with which team. After you earn your license, the idea is to compete for a ride, develop your skills, complete test days, and build your reputation over four successive seasons on the F1 circuit. Being officially licensed by Formula One Administration Limited, you'd be right in thinking that the game is packed full of official, accurate data from real life F1 - four seasons-worth in total. Every car, driver, track and team detail from seasons 1999 through 2002 has been painstakingly recreated, even including details such as Mika Salo completing the 1999 season, taking over from Michael Schumacher following the British GP at Silverstone. The gameplay itself has been completely overhauled since previous EA F1 outings, with an emphasis being placed on creating an immersive and realistic F1 racing experience. As such, the game sports radically improved AI, which allows the drivers in the game to take on their respective real life personas and thus experience racing incidents. Other small details lend extra depth to the proceedings, such as a 3D garage with motion-captured mechanics and options screens selectable from inside the car. There's also the option to get feedback via a headset radio from your chief mechanic on the track and your team boss off the track. All in all, F1 Career Challenge is a fairly comprehensive racing title, with enough features, modes and official data to keep all you F1 nuts busy for quite some time.
