Deus Ex Description

The greatly anticipated PS2 conversion of what is regarded by many as one of the greatest PC games of all time is finally here, so owners of Sony's sleek little number can now enjoy Deus Ex's unique blend of first-person action, problem-solving and intricate character interaction. Picture it: It's the year 2052 and the world is an extremely dangerous place. Terrorists operate openly and drugs, disease and pollution have become a world wide epidemic. As the world's economies are about to collapse, an age-old conspiracy bent on world domination is surfacing and about to take control. Enter JC Denton (that's you): cyborg anti-terrorist agent with UNATCO (UN Anti-Terrorist Coalition) sent to investigate New York terrorist activity that threatens the city with a plague dubbed the 'Grey Death'. From here the story unfolds as new plots and conspiracies begin to emerge, such as the terrorist plan to divert the only known cure away from society. Deus Ex is a first-person shooter crossed with a role-playing game, with a hefty slice of Hollywood-inspired scripting thrown in. Each objective in the game can be fulfilled in more than one way, all the characters are interactive and, with the aid of nano-tech augmentations, the game can more or less be completed in many different ways. Nano-tech augmentations are tech upgrades for the cybernetic body, such as speed, strength, etc. allowing the customisation of the protagonist and therefore the ability to carry out various contrasting objectives. Let down only slightly by Dual Shock controls, this game retains all the attributes of the groundbreaking PC original. It is also USB mouse/keyboard compatible so there really is no excuse for not buying this truly excellent title.

Features
In Deus Ex for PlayStation 2, the player will have the ability to create and manage a compelling alter ego. Players will be offered several different avenues to select and develop their own unique set of skills, attributes and nano-tech augmentations. This, coupled with determining which weapons and objects they will use to solve and survive problems, creates the most comprehensive character development seen to date in interactive gaming. How players choose to deal with scores of non-player characters affects the outcome of the game, minute-to-minute, mission-to-mission, and beginning to end.

Deus Ex has received over 30 "Game of the Year" accolades from numerous industry and fan publications, including "Game of the Year" from PC Gamer Magazine, "Best PC Game of 2000" by the British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA), "PC Action/Adventure Game of the Year" and "PC Innovation in Computer Gaming" from The Academy of Interactive Arts and Science.
