Hunter The Reckoning: Wayward Description

The burgeoning Hunter brand makes a move onto the PlayStation 2 with the release of Wayward, returning players to the sleepy town of Ashcroft, two years after the events of the original Hunter: The Reckoning. Two years that have remained peaceful, to be more specific, but obviously that's not set to last - a cult has formed underground and now events reminiscent of the past are starting to occur again. After receiving a distress call from a mysterious new Hunter, the four original Hunters realise they must return to the town, as evil has again resurfaced and the Hunters are Ashcroft's only hope of deliverance. The action throughout continues in the same vein as the original, with players shooting their way through an assortment of grim environments (from the fantasy world of White Wolf role-playing), hunting monsters and protecting the innocent. Obviously, with the inclusion of the new mystery Hunter, there's now a total of five characters to choose from, each possessing a vast array of weapons, spells and supernatural abilities. A new element to the proceedings introduced by Wayward is what's known as Hunter Headquarters, which is a unique game flow system that allows players to select different characters, weapons and review objectives between levels. As is the case with all the Hunter games, co-operative multiplayer gaming is strongly emphasised, so this becomes a useful aspect when planning your way through each area. If you've experienced Hunter: The Reckoning before, then you'll know what to expect here: relentless action, explosive combat, impressive visuals, all held together by an authentic White Wolf storyline. This time we have the addition of psychotic and highly dangerous new characters, new environments and new weapons thrown into the mix. Time to start Hunting!
