Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain (PS2)

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain (PS2) review

Syphon Filter: Omega Strain wasent all i thought it was gonna be. I love the Syphon Filter series, well except for this game.Sure you get your own character but it seems like they spent all their time on that feature rather than anything else. The game play is pretty bad and the graphics are not up to date. The controls is just awfull.I didnt spend much time playing this game, it was boring in my opinon but some parts weren't that bad i guess. Only if you love everything about Syphon Filter and would give everything a change should you buy this game.

The Warriors (PS2)

The Warriors (PS2) review

Decent game based on the 70's movie This is a fairly good game. It has a good story, nice music and true to the original film. It's cool that voice acting is done by the actual actors. It's also neat how there is a bunch of new story written to tie into the film. It is, however, too short. Definitely worth a rent tho. The game proves that Rockstar has some decent stuff that isn't from GTA . One of my fave features is the fact that a 2nd player can press start at any time to join the game. It is a great game, even if you know nothing about the 1979 film.

Half-Life 2 (XB)

Half-Life 2 (XB) review

This is really an amazing game. Nobody thought it could be done. How was one of the most technically advanced games for PC supposed to be ported to the x-box successfully? Well, I still don't know how they did it, but they did. And the results are amazing. This is the best shooter on X-box. Yes, it's better than Halo 2. The single player mode is so immersive, you feel like you ARE Gordon Freemen. The entire game is in First-person. Cut-scenes, everything. Even when you are driving vehicles. There are many different guns and such you can use to dispose of enemies. Shotguns, hand guns, machine guns. The list goes on and on. The A.I. in this game is amazing. They are smart. They don't just stand there and let you shoot them. They will take cover when reloading, etc. The graphics are magnificent for an X-Box game. The sound is all around really great. The voice acting is very well-done. The music changes fit the tone of the area you are in. If you are in a deserted town, the sound is different than when your riding a boat running from a helicopter. The game is jist the right length. Not too short, but not to the point where it just seems like you are doing things for no reason. If you really want a great shooting game for x-box, this is the one to get.

The Thing (PS2)

The Thing (PS2) review

Excellent game with unique elements based on John Carpenter's film. There are several fundamentals that make this game unique, among them is the fact that the game is considered an action/shooter but is very entertaining for survival horror fans. Trust plays a huge role in this game; your team must stay together while at the same time trust the other members of your team, you do not know who could be "The Thing" just like in the film. If you act sporadically or threaten a team member they may lose trust in you and turn on you. The game takes place in an arctic climate so whenever you are outside you are exposed to the elements and only have a limited amount of time before they take you over. This becomes difficult as you must venture outside to travel to other locations and complete missions in the game. To top off those elements in the game that you must keep track of, you must also fight the plethora of bestiary in this environment. The environments, characters and objects are graphically pleasing, however, the menus and floating icons above the heads of all the characters takes away from the games ability to be really "scary." The creature graphics are not done very well; blocky creatures with terribly jerky movements look humorous. The missions keep your interest and the whole "trust" factor adds a great deal to the game.

Full Spectrum Warrior (XB)

Full Spectrum Warrior (XB) review

When beginning FSW, I was actually surprised due to that it wasn't a regular type of military shooter. In truth, the game is actually a strategy game, and definately one of the best I've played in a long time. You have a squad of two teams, Alpha and Bravo, each consisting of 4 men each. Each of these men actually have a personality, so in a way, you actually kind of tend to like each character more. You will be the one pointing them in the direction they need to go, or giving them the order to fire upon that enemy stronghold. So you will never actually control "one" person from the team, you control the whole team. The game does get frustrating at times, but there is always a way to get past that situation. The graphics are nice, nothing gorgeous, but they are good. The gameplay is great, and the sounds are extremely realistic. Each explosion, each gunfight sounds great.

Getaway Black Monday (PS2)

Getaway Black Monday (PS2) review

If you liked the first Getaway then you'll will like Black Monday I was a big fan of the first getaway. I liked driving around London. Doing missions and having fun. The new Getaway feels the same to me. London looks exactly the same as before They didn't extend it or nothing it just looks the same. The game controls are the same as the first one, bad aiming system, no control what so ever over the camera, And the driving don't feel responsive. The thing i liked about the first getaway was. The Story and the realism. The story of Black Monday ain't as good as the first one. Most parts of the story seem confusing and unfinished. There are 3 characters in the main storyline. A cop named Ben Mitchell, A former boxer Eddie O'Conner, and a female thief name Sam. You'll Start off as Ben when you begin the game. Ben's character is uninteresting and boring. Eddie on the other hand is more interesting. You'll feel the emotion of him. Sam is on the same boat with Eddie. They mostly be together though the whole game. This game is shorter then the first getaway. I beat this game in 8 hours. It also feels a lot easier. I wish Team Soho do a better job on the next getaway. Im not disappointed, I just think the Getaway has alot of potential. If they fix the problem of this game and expend their horizon. The Getaway will be a near perfect game.
