Pokemon Dash (DS)

Pokemon Dash (DS) review

Pokemon Dash was the first pokemon game for the DS and so it was sure to be gimmicky, and therefore rubbish. But it isn't actually rubbish, it is catastrophically awful. The controls don't work, it is impossible to see where you're going, and there isn't any depth past win-five-races-to-unlock-the-next-cup style gameplay (apart from the GBA pack course creation, which I'm not even going to go into). The worst thing was that I received this on a Saturday, so I had to keep it over the whole of Sunday. What punishment.

Final Fantasy III (DS)

Final Fantasy III (DS) review

Though I only played it for about an hour before giving up on it, I really don't think it's much good. The graphics are OK for DS, and the battle system wasn't horrific, but what annoyed me was that after an hour of play, the game gave me a random impossible battle against a couple of skeletons with no warning. The knock me out in two turns, and I lost all my progress - the whole hour's worth, since it hadn't given me a chance to save the game before hand. For hardcore gamers only really.

Mario Party (DS)

Mario Party (DS) review

After the awful Mario Party on GBA, I wasn't really expecting much from Mario Party DS, since it seemed like it might be as boring and pointless. But this isn't the case! It is in fact much better than any other mario party to date (apart from mabye 6). The single-card multiplayer is excellent, and the boss mini-games are actually enjoyable. Considering the gameplay, the storyline is excellent, and so are the minigames. Definitely worth renting.

Mario Party 6 (GC)

Mario Party 6 (GC) review

The Mario Party series has probably been going the longest out of any without actually expanding on the original idea. You (and other friends if you're playing multiplayer) have to race around a board collecting coins and power stars whilst playing mad minigames to steal other players coins/stars. What makes it so brilliant is the amount of fun you can have playing it; it is unbelievably satisfying to ride on a chain chomp and squish your b rither to steal one of his stars. Worth renting for a bit of multiplayer, but don't bother if you want a hardcore single player game.

Mario Party 7 (GC)

Mario Party 7 (GC) review

The Mario Party series has probably been going the longest out of any without actually expanding on the original idea. You (and other friends if you're playing multiplayer) have to race around a board collecting coins and power stars whilst playing mad minigames to steal other players coins/stars. The thing about mario party 7 is that it is near-impossible to lay your hands on a copy since it was released near to the end of the Gamecube's reign (if it ever had one). Therefore, since you can rent it here, it's worth renting for a bit of multiplayer, but don't bother if you want a hardcore single player game.

Wario Ware, Inc.: Mega Party Game$ (GC)

Wario Ware, Inc.: Mega Party Game$ (GC) review

Wario Ware is an amazing series. The five-second microgames are predictably unpredictable, and the speed never lets you catch your breath. For anyone who has played the GBA original and found it easy, try this, it's much, much harder, even though most of the mini games are the same. A nice addition is the 'proper' multiplayer. You'll be able to spend hours beating your brother at all of the games. Definitely worth a rent.

MySims Racing (Wii)

MySims Racing (Wii) review

MySims racing is fairly obviously a clone of Mario Kart, but it actually manages to beat in in terms of single player quality. The story mode takes a fair amount of time to complete, and even though it has the standard EA formula of tackle three types of challenge with an increasing difficulty, they don't actually get that boring, and the characters help to make playing the game a fairly enjoyable experience. The only problem with the game is multiplayer. The high quality graphics make the game incapable of proccessing two racers at once, and the split screen makes it really hard to see where you're going. For single player it's worth a rent, but stick to Mario Kart Wii for multiplayer.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village (DS)

Professor Layton and the Curious Village (DS) review

Professor Layton and the Curious Village is simply a brilliant game. Even though it seems that playing 120 puzzles would be boring, the storyline helps it move along, and makes the game never get boring. Its brilliance was demonstrated by the fact that for a month after launch it was virtually impossible to get a copy (unless you were lucky in a supermarket). Never has a mental game been so much fun.

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations (DS)

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations (DS) review

I originally got a copy of Phoenix Wright : Ace Attorney for a tenner thinking it would be a good timewaster for the easter holidays. I was wrong. The series has now been a timewaster for my entire life. The brilliant plot makes Trials and Tribulations an awesome end to the series. After you finish the first four cases and sit back impressed with the scale of the plot, you then get onto the fifth case, and are blown away. I won't spoil the plot, so rent this game now!

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice For All (DS)

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice For All (DS) review

I originally got a copy of Phoenix Wright : Ace Attorney for a tenner thinking it would be a good timewaster for the easter holidays. I was wrong. The series has now been a timewaster for my entire life. Though many consider this to be the weakest of the trilogy, and yes case two and three are a bit boring, it is worth getting solely for the fourth case. And the brilliant thing about renting it means there is likely to already be a completed game on it, so you probably won't even have to go through the first three cases! Even though it isn't as good as the other two, think what you're comparing it to, and you'll see how worthwhile renting it is.
