+ Open world, Decent combat, Pretty graphics
- Bit easy, no multiplayer
Assassin's Creed 2 is a leap forward; more challenging, more open, and features a wider variety of missions compared to the first installment.
You play Desmond, who in turn plays his Italian 15th century ancestor Ezio inside the Animus - A machine that allows the reliving of memories. The game is a fairly open sandbox, with non linear missions, and a focus on exploration.
Combat is much improved from the original, with a wider variety of weapons, and the AI is supposed to be better - though it's still only a challenge when you're outnumbered - single opponents are easily dispatched (which you'd expect seeing as you're an assassin).
The story is engaging, and after bonding with your brother during the tutorial, you feel as though you are looking forward to doing further missions with him. Developers take note that some time has been taken making compelling drama an important part of the progression of the game, but it still has quite a sense of humour.
