Blood Bowl (Xbox 360)

Blood Bowl (Xbox 360) review

Ok first things first....forget about the real time element of this game, if you are buying or renting blood bowl the game then you are a true fan looking for the re-creation of the board game without all the set up time and pieces being sucked up by the hoover as your disgruntled wife cleans around you and your mates. And in this instance it works...really well actually. In fact it re-creates the board game so well......you might aswell save your money and just play the board game. The things that make the board game great have been completely left out of this console re-creation. The chance to play your mate who has just popped round...GONE. The chance to paint the minutres how you want them to look....GONE (but on the pc version for some reason). A massive network of people and tournaments at any one time.......GONE (no-one is playing this on xbox live). Funny moments of you and your mates huddled over some rolling dice just waiting for that all important score and then getting and shouting to the heavens with joy that youve just won the dinning room world cup, which now means dinner can be served at last to your starving family....GONE!!! and thats the problem everything that gives this game character and quality had been stripped away to make a console game. If only they had asked 1 fan of the board game what to leave in and take away they would have made the perfect game!!! what a shame. still there is warhammer 40k space marine on the way and whats that on the horrizon...a 40k MMO....oh hell yeeeeaaaaahhhh.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Hard Evidence (Xbox 360)

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Hard Evidence (Xbox 360) review

Not as bad as other people have made out but at the same time does get a bit boring after the first 2 investigations. I noticed on the third investigation that one of the hotel rooms i had to search was identical to one in the second investigation aswell as another location. Gameplay wise, it is pretty much the same as the PC versions just some different stories. One advantage is that you get some easy gamerpoints out of it but to be honest after the second story i just couldnt be bothered to finish the third story as it was dragging on a bit, so although they are just awarded for finishing the game, actually finishing the game would be a constant battle to stay awake. Great first two missions but after that just got too samey and boring..give it a go if you want to unlock 400 gamerpoints and make yourself tired. Great game for people who cant sleep...Im thinking of my mate Martin who practically never sleeps and loves trying to get more gamerpoints than me...to him i would recommend this game! Not as bad at the start but gets boring after that...rent it for the points! my score: 4.5/10

Lost Odyssey (Xbox 360)

Lost Odyssey (Xbox 360) review

Buy it!!!!! Buy it!!!!! Buy it!!!!! really not worth renting it because by the time youve got into it you will have had it for two months and you will have paid two months worth of subscription for it when its only selling for £15 anyway. Really big game deffinatly worth the money!!!!!!! ign.com reviewed and said that the loading times were really long and too often...I REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT!! Yes ok it does tend to load between each area and when a fight starts but this only lasts for 3 seconds AT THE MOST!!!! and when you consider how gorgeous it looks, this really can be forgiven in less time than it takes to load! Graphics are amazingly good, story is really good..flashback memories are really deep and tear jerking...something you could get the girlfriend to watch and then she might go easy on the fact that your going to spend the next year completing this game. My score....9.5/10 and the only reason for it not being 10 is that it comes on four discs and i am a lazy sod that cant be bothered getting up to change a disc, but the girlfiend i mentioned earlier has got to have something to do so they feel part of the experience!

Too Human (Xbox 360)

Too Human (Xbox 360) review

Great wargear options, Great skill tree, good combat and a fairly good story. The only problem with this game is the story, it is fairly good but just gets Too dis-jointed and confusing at times. If you havent watched the prologue video you will be hard pushed to work out what is actually going on, although the story generaly follows norse mythology it can't help but make things seem more confusing than they really are. I know all the ins and outs of where the story from norse mythology should be going and this game just flits in and out of it when it likes and generaly adds things that, to me, just seem like they are there to confuse things. If you can look past this and complete the game it does start to become a lot clearer though but the problem is a lot of gamers wouldnt bother as it's Too Confusing at the start, which to be honest is where a game should try it's hardest to keep you interested. The combat is pretty good and once you start pulling in the combos and sliding around the screen striking foes left, right and center you will start to really enjoy it. One issue with the combat and that is it is Too easy to die, but you don't die, a valkrie comes down and brings you back to life at your last save point and the really annoying thing is this proccess takes about a minute each time and isn's skipable. When you have died for the tenth time and find yourself making you tenth cup of tea while you wait to be given life once more it can get very annoying. The skill tree is nice and diverse for each different class of fighter but the real winner is the wargear. There is so much wargear in this game i would be amazed if two people ever had the same looking character EVER! I must also add that the graphics are pretty darn good but i did notice a small amount of slow down when faced with a large number of enemies, to be fair though the backdrop and character models look so good you can forgive it for that. Would reccomend buying if you could get it for about £25 but renting it and giving it a go is a definate must. I would score this with: 7.5/10

Conan (Xbox 360)

Conan (Xbox 360) review

This is one of those games you really can just pick up and play and get a great deal of fun out of, unfortunatly after playing it for a couple of hours you start to realise that you have seen all the tricks this pony can perform. Although its not all bad as it remains fun to pull of the finishing moves that end up spraying the targets blood and guts all over the scenery and the combo's are imaginative and fun to pull off. The game keeps you on track with cut scenes telling you the story so far and where your heading aswell as generally keeping you on track through out the game aswell, don't go thinking this is a free roaming world but at the same time at least you cant get lost...or can you? about 2 hours in i got completly stuck in a cave level with absolutly no way to get out or advance any furthur, it took four re-loads of the level before the game finally let me continue, surely his type of bug is something of the past, we shouldnt be still having these issues with next gen games. The graphics are actually not bad at all especially when the blood starts to flow but i did notice one thing quite strange, the graphics are better on the demo that can be found on xbox live than they are in the main game itself...interesting! The boss battles are absoultly brilliant and to be fair are a real high point in the game, think god of war style mixed with craatures from the conan world with a great feeling of scale and your on the money. Whilst fighting a dragon boss on top of a large spire type building the camera zoomed downwards as i pulled the last finshing move, i then got to see as the dragon came crashing down towards the camera followed by conan riding a huge boulder, it was great. If you like Golden axe, hack-n-slash style games with some depth then is the game for you. The price you can get it for now is a real bargain so it's deffinatly become more worth it. Pay no more than £20 though. Good Action Good Graphics Great Bosses Great Combo Design 6/10

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) review

If you have the time in life to have a load of the lads round your house eating you out of house and home every weekend then this game is for you as i could see it being a real good laugh once youve got a competition going. vodka shots for the winner of each round who also stays on for the next challenger..obviously the longer you win the poorer you hand eye co-ordination due to the vodka...Great! Otherwise without all the lads round and the misses frowning at you from accross the room because you said you would cut the grass instead this weekend, this game lacks a lot of punch. as a single player experience it's just too well....boring i'm sorry to say. this is a game clearly built from the ground up for the league competitions with lots of people who really should be at home cutting the grass that weekend for their ma and pa. No real tactics im afraid it's just generally a button masher but with some cute details and nice added characters and little in jokes this game would be great for the kids aswell as the bigger kids, it just needs more people than i could fit in my house, to play it properly. I come from a xbox 360 background and before that was a firm follower of playstation and i think sometimes when playing nintendo games i tend to look for more depth than is actually there. But bearing in mind this game is a one trick pony, it's a very pretty, fast and generally fun little pony...just get lots of your pony mates round!!!
