Fallout 3 (PS3)

Fallout 3 (PS3) review

This game is absolutely brill, once you get past the hard start that is. For the first few hours i was getting absolutely anihilated. Once you build up some skills and weaponry this game develops a flow that can suck you in for hours. 1 hour can quickly become 5. You'll keep hearing yourself say "I'll just do this bit." Absolute brilliance.

Sid Meier's Civilization: Revolution (Xbox 360)

Sid Meier's Civilization: Revolution (Xbox 360) review

Wow I feel tired, what time is it? That was the question i kept asking myself when i sat down to play this. It sucks you in until you wonder why your eyes hurt, and then you realise it's 3am and you've been playing for 6 hours. This turn based strategy game just keeps you playing for "one more turn" and is a joy to play. The only problem i had was on the higher difficulties but once you've worked out the best strategy it just keeps you coming back for more.

Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy (PS3)

Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy (PS3) review

Well where do i begin, I've played worse games. Sadly this isn't much better. The gameplay itself is third rate, below average third person stealth/shooter full of quick time events. There is a driving section but again the physics feel wrong and the play is again awful. Mercifully the game is quite short and was completed in a few hours. You could replay on a harder difficulty but the question is why??

Mass Effect (Xbox 360)

Mass Effect (Xbox 360) review

A very deep game from the makers of Knights of the old Republic, and it shows. It is very much a similar game and is easy to pick up for anyone that has played that before. the main difference is that this time there is real time combat (that has been improved on since Jade Empire). This is a game that takes many hours of dedication to fully complete and will keep you engrossed from the third hour onwards. The appearance of a few bugs and slowdown is the only thing preventing me from giving this game 5 stars but otherwise an exceptional game.

Resident Evil 4 (Wii)

Resident Evil 4 (Wii) review

The only similiarities between this Resident Evil and the previous versions are the fact that you kill zombies and the umbrella corperation and racoon city gets a mention. Otherwise to me it could be a brand new franchise. The gameplay is different and my god does it work. The main story takes up to 15 hours (depending on personal pace) and once you finish it is possible to play again on the next difficulty. I tried to play initially on medium but it really works best when you start on easy and work your way up the difficulty ladder. Plus the extra missions open up the story that little bit more. Having played this game on PS2 previously i was intrigued to see if the move to aiming and moving controls inproved or weakened this game. I would have to say that the game is marginally improved. It has had a minor graphical touch up and the motion sensor and aiming work a treat. If you already own this on PS2 i would seriously not be able to recommend it, but if not then this is still a great game and i can't recommend it highly enough.
