Canis Canem Edit (PS2)

Canis Canem Edit (PS2) review

A thoroughly enjoyable game - brilliant rental as it's relatively short but should be played by everyone. Beat the bullies at their own game and save the school from total madness, certainly not a game that should of received such crass media reporting. Its a solid title so don't miss out.

Scarface (PS2)

Scarface (PS2) review

The Gervais cameo is absolute genius - roared with laughter. This game has a button for swearing and some of the conversations made me ashamed to have teh sound on incase the neighbours heard... The game itself is straightforward - interesting and fun for the most part, but the last few missions become increasingly frustrating to the point of needing your own swear button (or mute button).

FIFA 06: Road To Fifa World Cup (Xbox 360)

FIFA 06: Road To Fifa World Cup (Xbox 360) review

Awful - absolutely awful. 1/5 for good reason. The graphics are very glossy and unrealistic, the framerate jutters and the pitches look like bushy fileds. As for the gameplay 0/5 possibly the worst attempt to create football I have seen in a game since the 80s. It doesn't look, play or feel like football. AVOID this rubbish rent the world cup game its better. Better still get PES in october.

Downhill Domination (PS2)

Downhill Domination (PS2) review

Was surprised by this titles ability to actually be fun when the concept is so simple. Ride a bike really fast down a really steep mountain while pulling off rediculous stunts. Worth a rent for a few days as you will enjoy it for the sheer over the top nature of the title.

Battalion Wars (GC)

Battalion Wars (GC) review

Was looking forward to this one and thought it would be worth a look before I bought it - wrong, it is worth a look so you don't go and waste £40. The missions are brief, uninteresting, generic and graphically very bland. The controls are slow to respond and the vehicles handle like wheelbarrows full of horse-muck. Still not convinced - rent it and finish it within 8 hours, if you can last that long.

Capcom Classics Collection (PS2)

Capcom Classics Collection (PS2) review

If ever a game was perfect for renting - this is possibly it. 22 games - not all of them classics but all worth a blast. Final fight, ghouls and ghosts and street fighter 2 all on one disc. When it sounds this good why rent it, maybe I should buy this now? These games all sounds so great and once you play them you'll be instantly rekindled with some true gaming gems, however after a few hours on these and a few minutes on some of the poorer games you'll realise that you'd rather get back to something more curent gen, hence the rental!

Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks (PS2)

Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks (PS2) review

Mediocrity meets Mortal Kombat - again. This game sounds more fun than you can actually have. It's just too simplistinc and unbalanced to be anything other than a mindless throwaway title. The levels are ver similar and the game world never really opens up leaving yo on a linear path to the end pulling off the same combo over and over again with the same fatalities that looked a bit rubbish the first time. Not forgetting the unforgiving end of game boss that will test the patience of any gamer - sadly this lets an average game down a bit along with the unwieldly platforming that luckily does not rear it's ugly head too often.

BLACK (PS2)

BLACK (PS2) review

3/5 - why what happened? Black is an interesting title which doesn't do a lot wrong. However the whole destroy everything aspect is very over-hyped and barely in existence as far as game mechanics go - sure stuff blows up and walls can be destroyed - but - most walls and most scenery stays the same way and don't blow up. Shooting stuff to fall on people - yeah maybe once in the entire game is this even possible, so basically all this aspect does is cause slowdown. The game itself is very short, only 8 levels ranging form 20mins to 60mins each, with no saving mid level and very few checkpoints which can annoy on some of the more annoying levels. Some enemies need about five headshots to die and this can be very difficult if you're surrounded by enemies with RPGs being fired at you. You cannot jump - so what? - well you left a medback on the ledge above its only half a foot up and you can see it but tough - you cannot go back. Worth a rent as once completed there is no incentive to play it again.

Star Fox 2: Assault (GC)

Star Fox 2: Assault (GC) review

If this title was solely arwing action this would get a five/five and would be a must for any starwing/lylatt wars fan. However the on foot sections are absolutely awful, abysmal even. The controls are the major problem - they don't work - really really let down with this game. Heard that the on foot was bad but this is terrible. Still the flying is awesome!

Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)

Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) review

You owe it to your PS2 to play this game. It is an absolute masterpiece of gaming, its beautiful, mysterious and should not be missed. This game is about one thing - killing colossi, don't expect sidequests but do expect to give a damn about the story, characters and your amazing task. Don't rent this, BUY it instead, it's games like this which make gaming great.
