Bioshock 2 (Xbox 360) Description

We bet every man has referred to himself as the Big Daddy at least once in his life. In the world of Rapture though, Big Daddy is no term of pimping endearment. No, the art deco-modelled underwater paradise is crawling with huge, walking diving suits with rivet guns and drills grafted onto their arms. And in BioShock 2, you get to play as the very first prototype. Big Daddies were never too far away from the Little Sisters that would accompany them. Set ten years after the events of the original game, girls are being snatched above water by a monster and then dumped in the city of Rapture. While surviving the threats of the now fallen and destroyed city, you wander the underwater halls in search of answers. Just as in the first game, BioShock 2 involves genetic modification via Plasmids to overcome your foes and various obstacles. This time around, you get to dual-wield standard weapons and Plasmid powers, while you get to use your own powerful abilities as a Big Daddy to pulverise your enemies. As well as a unique new story mode to play through by yourself, the game comes packed with a multiplayer mode that works on experience points to unlock new weapons, Plasmids and Tonics that allow you to beat your opponents in various combinations. Even the multiplayer is story-oriented – online, you play as one of Rapture's citizens and take part in the underwater city's civil war.

Bioshock 2 is a good game, but fails to live up to the original. The mystery of Rapture which enthralled you with the first game, is nowhere to be seen in this sequel. You'll have the same types of enemies and new areas to explore, but gone are the fun hacking games and sinister story. The multiplayer is quickpaced and fun for the most part and future DLC will support it. Unfortunatly, like Rapture, Bioshock 2 feels the pressure and buckles.

Normally I would expect a game sequel to either be like the original, or somehow worse. This was so not the case with Bioshock. They too kwhat made the original a great game, and improved on it. You finally get to play the big daddies you cowered from in the first one, and theres a new enemy, the big sister, who is like a big daddy but more lethal and agile. You still have to fight big daddies, and of course splicers, but you use some new weapons and some old ones. The pistol is gone, the crossbow is gone, the wrench is gone, but instead you get the rivet gun, the spear gun and the fearsome drill used by the big daddies. The plasmids are also upgraded, although many from the original still remain, however now you don't have to switch between weapon and plasmid, and can change both on the fly as you deal death with both hands and all your weapons and powers. You also get to explore more of rapture and its story, and even get to see the world from the eyes of the little sisters. Plus you even hear references to your character from the first game. The graphics and intensity are pretty much similar to the first one, slightly updated and the game has a very similar feel. Overall a brilliant game.

With a large array of powers and guns, this game will have you quivering in your boots, but eager for more. Explore the underwater city, Atlantis.... err, Rapture. Infested with psychopaths, you must fight your way through them all, as well as a variety of other characters, some which will have you second-guessing whether or not you'll make it out alive, even after completion you will deffinatly want to consider playing through the game a few more times even if it's just to horde achievments
