The Saboteur (Xbox 360) Description

We hear a lot about Germany whenever anyone mentions World War II and the Nazi regime. Or Winston Churchill. But not an awful lot of people talk about what happened in the European countries that were occupied by Nazis during this period of war. Pandemic Studios, the creators of the Mercenaries series, tell such a tale in The Saboteur - a story about Irish racing mechanic Sean Devlin who seeks to topple the Nazi occupation in France. Thanks to the French Resistance, you become a liberation vigilante who carries out sabotage missions in the expansive game world. An array of weapons and vehicles are at hand to help you take on the Nazis, who are hot on your tail if you make a big enough noise in any given area. If you’re spotted on suspicion of arson or sabotage, the German army opens fire to apprehend you. If you’re slick enough, you can evade capture and raise the Alarm meter to force the Nazis to bring in tanks and zeppelins. The more you fight and take back for the people, the more colourful the world becomes as the art style features a unique ‘film noir’ approach to the game’s visuals. As you progress Sean gets the opportunity to beef up his abilities, earn better cars and gain the ability to pass through various checkpoints to enable him to cause havoc in the neighbouring town... The resistance needs YOU!

The saboteur is a masterpiece. It combines the limitless freeroaming found in games such as grand theft auto, with the third person shooting of gears of war. The graphics are of a high quality and the gameplay is excellent. In addition to this the combination of storyline missions and optional sideline missions gives you the coice of gunning through or making the game last. The game sets you in the resistance of paris during world war two as a saboteur AND incorporates racing, this makes for exciting and stimulating gameplay, keeping the player highly entertained. Furthermore the perk system of kill and be rewarded gives goals other than the missions to keep in mind. This mixture of action, free roaming, good gameplay, excellent graphics and rewards makes for an excellent game, so good i rented it twice!

A different game from what I thought, the little information I heard about the game didnt really make it out as a revolutionary new game. Though this is a very good game on its own, with thousands of things to do, along with 3 races, several side missions, and the 1500+ optional destruction/assassinate places. The game is however very unfair at times when it sends hordes of endless enemies against you and the allies that you summon run away or die within 3 minutes. Driving is a pain but sturdy, hand to hand is also ok though too simple. The guns in the game also needed a bit more work as they didnt seem to live up to expectation, grenades also seemed very weak as they hardly ever killed 3 people in one. This game is very long for its game type though, I played it for the better part of a week. Good game to rent, but there isnt too much replay value so I wouldnt consider buying it.

This was the first game that I had from swap game. I was quite excited to try something new, as I always like to try new game types. Basically you are in Paris during WWII and driving/running etc around the city doing just about everything you fancy. The best bit I found was being able to climb up onto the rooftops of Paris and jump from roof to roof and picking off Nazis one by one. It is really just like GTA but in Paris with Nazis not 'Boys from the hood'. If you liked GTA you will love Saboteur. Good fun and so much to do.
