Resident Evil 5 was one of those games we gasped at when we saw the early shots back before XBox 360 or PS3 was even launched. That seems like a real long time ago now - we waited a long time for this game. The previous Resident Evil 4 was the pinnacle for me, it was truly an amazing game. Whilst Resident Evil 5 is by no means a bad game, it's noticable that it's not as good as 4 was. Of course, the graphics are a HUGE leap forwards from the last game, but that's about all. Resi 5 has lost the scare factor... there's the odd cut scene that's a little gruesome, which is what we want, but for the most part, it's just not a scary game like 4 was. It tries to pull a LOT of the same tricks too - chainsaw guys running at you, quick time moments that are blindingly obvious... although they work well, it's a like a cheap comedy film sequel, where all the same jokes are used again. The 2 player co-op is excellent with either split screen or online - this tends to be much better than the single player, because the AI isn't exactly great. Too many times, your partner will be shooting a huge monster with her handgun when she has something much more formidable on her. If you play it this way, you'll get used to just leaving her with her handgun alone, because there's no point in giving her anything else. It sounds like I'm knocking the game, and I suppose I am, but that's because Resi 4 was such an amazing game, we were bound to be expectant for this one. It's still a really great game overall, and if you're a Resi fan, you should definitely experience it.

Great game i played resi 4 and loved that i still think that somehow its not as good but very close. The story is a good legnth with lots of weapons to upgrade and things to collect which is good. Also the graphics are very very good not the best i've ever seen but great. Also it has some onlnie modes which are ok but if you have a friend with it you can go through the story mode with them which is great or just play certain chapters and carry over all your previous weapons to it. also while you play you can use the mics which work extremly well. Graphics:91/100 very good but can be glitchy at times Sound:95/100 great sounding game with a creepy soundtrack gameplay:89/100 good replay value and onlnie modes can keep you busy lifespan:92/100 lots to collect once completedand also a good lebgth game will take quite a few hours

A good game in most aspects and is worth 4.5 stars. A good story with new challenging bosses and enemies within the story make the game well worth playing. Within co-op mode it's much better. 3.5 stars is so underated. The Ai is slightly faster responding and the game is just as hard as resi4. One criticism is that on the hardest difficulty the Ai partner struggles to stay alive in boss battles or tough encounters. Play it co-op and you'll spends many hours having fun with a desire to reach the credits.

What has happened to the Resident Evil games? This game to me isn't a Resident Evil game. The storyline is rubbish compared to previous Resident Evil titles, it seems it has changed from a survival horror game to a third person shooter. As a big fan of Resident Evil 1-4 (and all the inbetweeners) i was very dissapointed. But Resident Evil aside, this game is not bad, i am reviewing this game solely on previous Resident Evil titles which is a bit wrong. If your new to Resident Evil games and you was to play this you would see that it is not a bad title at all, the graphics are great and the co op play is a great addition. If this game wasn't called Resident Evil 5 i would give it 4 stars but for a Resident Evil title based on previous games i had to give it just 3 stars. The only good thing to me about renting this is that i didn't waste money buying it.
