This game is great for anybody who owned a megadrive in their school days. Some great sega titles are included but where is Castle of Illusion, quackshot and Tazmania (which to my knowledge were made by sega). These could of replaced some poor games like flicky. But to play Streets of Rage 2, Golden Axe 2 and all the sonic games again was great. I dont think this will appeal to younger gamers because they could see the majority of games too repetitive but thats how it was. Great gaming, just a few more titles should of been added or replaced because the amount of Megadrive games you can fit on one disc is a hell of a lot more than whats on offer on this disc. This would of been easily a 5 star game if more classics were on this disc, maybe they are planning a part 2 collection. I hope so.

This game collection is quite clearly for Sega Megadrive enthusiasts. If you're not in that category and you've come here to write a negative review, you should check yourself in at your local hospital for a CT scan as soon as possible, as you may well have a tumour pressing on the cognitive area of your brain. If you were old enough to appreciate these games when they were released (i.e. older than 14), then you're in for a treat. There's 40+ games here that would cost several hundred pounds if you tried to buy the original game cartridges and arcade boards. The games have been upscaled to 3 times their original resolution in order to work on HD Televisions. This is not immediately apparent - they still look quite pixellated - but plug in a real Sega Megadrive and the different is suddenly very obvious. This collection mostly contains games that were originally published by Sega. A recent article in Retro Gaming magazine interviewed the developers behind this collection and there were quite a few legal wrangles involved in getting the final list together. So, if you're a retro enthusiast... this is an essential purchase. If you've grown up in the 3D era of video gaming, stay well away - there's nothing to see here. 1 point off for being too similar to Sega Megadrive Collection (PS2/Xbox/PSP).

I've got to admit, I was very disappointed with this collection, as I remember when playing them on the mega drive years ago, there was occasional slowdown on some (apparent mostly on 2 player sonic games), and for some unexplained reason, sega have done nothing to rectify this, and it even seems worse at times. With the processing power of the playstation, this could've been removed. Also, a graphical update wouldn't have gone amiss either. Overall, not a great example of how to do a retro collection on a modern gen machine.

Some of gamings greats in one neat package. Quite a major rip off too though, since theyve only managed to use a mere fraction of the space on a Blu-ray disc. They could have fitted the entire Mega Drive back catalogue on and still had room to include most of the other Sega console games.

Review sections should be for reviews! Unlike what the previous user has used this section for. There should be some kind of moderation on here to stop people like frizzlefried publishing slander! In contrast these games are emulated beautifully and play just like the originals. History my friends teaches us everything and these games are what started it all off. Lets not forget that now. I agree we must not dwell on it too long but without games like Desert Strike, Streets of Rage, Sonic and Lotus Turbo Challenge we would definitely not have such instant classics as Ace Combat, Metal Gear Solid, Little Big Planet and Forza 2! As far as i am concerned this collecion of classics should be owned/played by everyone who owns a console. Just to remind us where it all started to become mainstream.
