Damnation (PS3) Description

Evolving the shooter genre with its unique and exhilarating combination of fluid action and combat, Damnation will feature huge, open environments, frenetic combat, daredevil acrobatics and high-octane vehicle-based stunts. Presenting players with an intense test of reflexes, quick thinking and rapid-fire conflict, Damnation will feature vast, breathtaking landscapes, each covering miles of distance and thousands of vertical feet. Billed as a 'shooter gone vertical' and visually inspired by iconic elements of American history, these massive streaming landscapes will form the battlegrounds for a post-industrial conflict between humanity and an unstoppable arms dealer hell-bent on total world domination. Players will be able to choose their own paths and navigate the world by performing daredevil feats on the edge of human ability. However players aren't the only ones with mind-blowing acrobatic skills; intelligent enemies will give chase and engage players in frantic gun fights and attacks that can come from any direction – in Damnation's world there's no safe place to hide. With up to three hours of actual gameplay stretching out in front of them per level, players will need more than just muscle power to get across each level safely. Damnation will offer players a selection of awe-inspiring vehicles, from motorbikes capable of launching across seemingly infinite chasms, to huge, armour-piercing marvels that will induce mayhem with every huge shell. The high action will be supported with an epic and in-depth story which, while focusing on the exploits of the hero character Rourke, is truly an ensemble piece. Players will meet and become involved in intricate story plots that reveal much more than the obvious. In addition to the single player experience, Damnation comes complete with a unique set of multiplayer options that take full advantage of the game's expansive levels.

Dissappointing. That's all you can say about Damnation. After coming off the back of inFAMOUS, this was a major let-down. Convoluted plot, leaden animation, wonky aiming, camerawork by Stevie Wonder, it's all there. It's a shame, as the hype had lead me to believe it might be something different, if not special. Overall, it just lacks that "Wow" factor that inFAMOUS has, which is as good a 'third-person shooter/adventure' yardstick to use as any. It pains me to say it, but if you can't offer anything significantly better or different, why bother?

The first thing you realise is there's a credit crunch on..... The animation is real dire although if you go to options and change to sensitivity low then it helps somewhat...The enemy IA is like a demented slug, and the guns are like a pea shooter when you were a kid... The story line well I've played it and cannot be bothered to know what it is.... The back ground graphics in parts are quite nice and as you scale real tall structures you do believe you an hundreds or so feet up, so don't rent if you suffer from vertigo. This is a game that is half complete and rushed out to bring some money in.... There is some enjoyment but not enough to wish you you hadn't bothered.........

A fantastic game, very impressed with the overall gaming, lots of action, jumps/flips going on and a very good story to go along with the play. Graphics are exceptional with at times a bit annoying when you freeze for a second or so, not a big complaint but annoying when you try and move but you carn't but apart from that an excellent game with excellent content. A game to play for sure.

a big let down for next gen games theres no option to hide on walls whilst in combat so you can jump out and shoot then back into cover making it stupidly impossible to win gun fights.ok graphics but very poor game my advice give it a miss or if you want to try it yourself then rent it but be prepared to be disappointed

Poor graphics, story and sound. The gameplay however is not poor but terrible. A lack of direction makes this a frustrating and tiresome game. DO NOT BUY DO NOT EVEN RENT this title.
