After renting this game, I didn't have too high expectations because of some of the reviews I'd read, but once I started playing the game I was quite happy with it. The character controls are nothing new, kind of like Dark Kingdom if anyone has played that. However the mix of combat and questing does provide a fresh look at the genre. You spend your time split between combat and adventuring, talking to people, finding information etc, and there is a set combat mode for when you encounter enemies. The game story in itself is compelling, though there aren't any major twists in the plot and it is fairly obvious how it will end. The combat system is fun but can be repetitive after a while, though you can mix it up by performing different combos, switching to different weapons, and activating god powers, plus you are able to select which characters fight alongside you, and each has their own unique fighting style. Finally, there is plenty to do in this game to keep you occupied, and as you complete quests, side quests and other feats (such as killing so many enemies or destroying a set number of shields) you recieve favour points which you can devote to a god of you choice (of 4) to gain powers and abilities granted by that god. Pros: Mythic all-star cast with heroes such as Hercules, Pan and Achilles fighting alongside you Choice of 3 weapons that can be changed at any time Choice of which God(s) to honour to gain their abilities Fun and challenging boss fights Simple combat system that can be used in a variety of ways Sub-quests to keep you busy Good story line Cons: Mediocre graphics No trophy support Fighting minions can be repetitive

First of all, I completely disagree with the negative reviews regarding this game. Fans of greek mythology will love this one, it has a pretty good story even if you dont like the myth. Anyone that loved the film "jason and the argonauts" will also feel at home with this game. The best way for me to describe this game is, its like a hybrid, its part adventure game, and this is a minor niggle, there is lots of talking, lots of text and questions, sometimes to much, its also an RPG, but you dont level up, you offer your feats to the gods, then you choose powers and abilties to improve your character. There is also some action (button bashing style mainly) - This is also my 2nd niggle, there is not enough action to be fair, less talk & text and more action would have made this game better. Graphics wise its ok, some pretty bits but overall its just ok, voice is good but nothing oustanding, music is also pretty standard. My final words are, ignore the harsh customer reviews on here, this is well worth a rent (especially if your curious) - At least play until the first part is over, then if you havent loved it give it a miss. Both PS3 and 360 are identical in every department, so if you have both (like me) get this version you prefer the controller on.

This game should have been so much better. Lots of technical issues like frame rate dips, dodgy camera and stupid team mate AI make this mediocre at best. Combat is very simple, and the RPG elememnts are very weak. Its not all bad though. The story is a good one, and fans of Greek mythology should enjoy it. Rent, dont buy.

For the first few hours I loved this game, however after that I was left with a pretty bad game. It was like boxing day. Christmas day you are showered with new joys to play with, however by the time boxing day comes you are left with some crappy shower gel and an empty pocket. You start off with you wife getting killed and this begins your quest to bring her back. However there is no charactor development so you find it very hard to care about this woman, but I was willing to forgive that as I was having fun. Choosing who the next guardsmen would be and servents slaking off until they see you are quickly get back to work made you feel like you actually were the king but soon you leave this Island and then the game goes downhill fast. A mixture of crappy enemies and boring combat leave you with a bad taste. Add the offering to the god stuff for powers which over complicates what should be a simple task and the disjointed conversations and you find yourself gaging for this tripe to end.
