Call of Duty: World at War (PS3) Description

Call of Duty: World at War has a lot to live up to. The venerable Call of Duty franchise was taken to new heights by Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4, and expectations are high. So, what does World at War, developed by CoD3 developer Treyarch, have to offer? Well, it has a rock-solid foundation, for starters. The game has been built using the Call of Duty 4 engine, so expect the same cinematic visuals and tight control of CoD4. You'll really see it in action with the likes of the flamethrower, which adds fire into the mix as a new dynamic to play around with. Treyarch has also gone back to the war that made the Call of Duty series famous - WWII. Rather than tread the same old battlefields, however, players will be thrust into the muddied boots of Russian and American soldiers on multiple fronts. A heavy emphasis has been put on the Pacific Theatre, meaning players will have to take on Japanese soldiers deploying kamikaze attacks, ambush tactics and Banzai charges. New to the series is co-op play, which will let players experience the camaraderie of the frontline as they get involved with up to four mates through the entirety of the single-player campaign. Naturally, this will be joined by competitive multi-player that builds on the success of CoD4. The world needs you for fighting duties again. Time to step up.

Wow what a game. This was the first hardcore fps i've played and can say without a doubt the best i have played.(some may argue cod 4 is better but i have not played it). i thoureghly enjoyed this game and was well worth the money. the story mode is very good but still could have been better but was very immerssive and fun.But the main part of this game is the online and it does not dissapoint.great gameplay because of lots of different modes, the guns are good although the mp40 is ridiculously better than most guns and it plays well most times.apart from the uncommon connection errors and host ending the game.Overall brilliant game roll on modern warfare 2 Graphics:88/100 not the best ever but not rubbish by a long shot Sound:94/100 great sounding game especially with headphones you are thouroughly emmersed the only thing is the pistols barring the magnum sound pathetic gameplay:94/100 great storymode, fantastic onlnie lifespan:93/100 it has lasted me months on the onlnie it is great with lots of ranks to get through

An average to good game but i wish it was longer. There are 15 levels but only the last two or three are even slightly long. The game's graphics were ok but other games such as cod4 and rainbow six vegas2 far surpass it. The game provides an average challenge on the normal middle difficulties. The game's last level was quite interesting as it built up to the end of WW2. A good game but in my opinion it's quite behind other games of the past year.

The Call of Dutys made by Infinity Ward (1,2 and 4) are some of the best FPS's ever made. When I played CoD 3 I was very disappointed. So I didnt have high hopes for another CoD not made by Infinity Ward. Boy was I suprised when I stared playing and it was an extremely good game. It felt and played just like CoD 2. Dont get me wrong its not Cod 4 which in my opinion is the best FPS ever. But an extremely good game in its own right and highly recommended to anyone.

this game is amazing! it goes back to World War 2 and switches between the battles between the americans and japan and the russians and the nazis. With special appearances by Kiefer Sutherland and Gary Oldman. Graphics are superb and the missions are good fun.
